We all need things to look forward to this year, and next on the horizon is Chinese New Year. 2021 is the year of the ox, denoting hard work, positivity and honesty. We’ve tracked down ten of the best Chinese-style home accessories to help you see the new year in in style – they also make lovely gifts for anyone you can’t be with.

5. Decorative Han Foo dog in light Chinese green, OKA
Despite the name, a Han Foo dog isn’t really a dog – it’s actually a lion. This hand-painted ceramic sculpture is inspired by the traditional Han dogs you find protecting Chinese imperial palaces and places of worship. Lions were first introduced to China during the Han Dynasty through tradespeople and travellers who would share stories of the Asiatic lions they had seen in neighbouring countries. Gradually, the lion earned its place as a temple guardian. This Han dog is ceramic and finished with a celadon glaze that draws on early Chinese pottery. £250, available from OKA.
