[AD] Roller blinds are one of the most popular types of blinds for people to buy. Some of the reasons why roller blinds are so popular are that they are easy to operate and clean, they’re available in many different colours, designs and fabrics, which makes the roller blind very versatile, and they look stunning in almost any room they’re placed in.
But if you’ve just bought new made-to-measure roller blinds, how do you install them? If you’ve never done it before, don’t panic – it may seem tricky, but it is actually incredibly easy to do. To get the best instructions possible for you, we consulted DotcomBlinds’ guide on how to fit a roller blind for some of the finer points, so you can rest assured knowing you have the best info on how to install roller blinds.
To install a roller blind you will need:
- a drill
- a pencil
- a tape measure
- the blinds themselves
Any other things needed, such as screws, should be provided with the roller blinds you have purchased.

Installing roller blinds: step 1
Starting off you’ll need to attach your blinds brackets to the wall. But first you’ll need to know whether you’ll be installing your blind within the recess or outside the recess (you should know this from when you ordered the blind).
If your blinds were to be installed within the recess all you need to do, is place your brackets on the ceiling of the recess at either corner, with the bracket facing downwards. Then use your drill and the screws that came with your blind to drill them into place.
If your blinds were to be installed outside the recess, you will need to get your initial measurements for the length and width of the blinds. Then from the windowsill measure upwards and make a mark on the wall with your pencil at the height the blinds will be, then from the centre of the recess measure outwards the width of your blinds and make a mark on the wall at either side where the brackets will be placed. Once you’ve marked where the brackets will be simply attach the brackets facing outwards and secure them in place by using your drill and the screws that came with your blind.
Step 2
Once your brackets are in place, simply place your bracket covers over the bracket, they should easily slide onto the brackets and click into place.
The bracket covers will give your blinds a professional, cleaner look.
Step 3
Time to attach the blind, you’ll want to first attach the side without the control mechanism. Simply slide the end of the roller tube into the bracket.
Once the side without the control mechanism is in place, then attach the end with the mechanism into the bracket in the same way you got the first side in.
And there you have it, you have installed your own roller blind, now it’s time to relax and enjoy your brand new set of blinds.
