Not every contractor who shows up after a storm is worth trusting with your roof. Roofing companies in Huntington range from long-established local crews to fly-by-night outfits that vanish before the warranty kicks in, so knowing who to call matters more than most homeowners realize. The real challenges here are pricing transparency, contractor licensing, and getting through insurance claims without getting taken advantage of. After reviewing dozens of contractors across the Long Island and Huntington area, this guide breaks down the five best options for reliable replacement and repair.
How this ranking was put together
Publicly available sources shaped every pick in this list. Review platforms, contractor directories, official company websites, and customer feedback were all pulled together to evaluate each option. Only contractors with a real, documented track record in roofing services made the cut.

Why Roofing Companies In Huntington Are Worth a Closer Look
Choosing the right roofing contractor is one of the biggest calls a homeowner can make. The gap between a licensed, insured professional and a storm chaser who underbids and disappears can cost you tens of thousands of dollars in repeat repairs.
Pricing in the Huntington market is far from uniform. Cost per square foot for roofing installation or replacement can swing dramatically depending on materials, crew quality, and whether the contractor actually pulls permits.
Getting that choice wrong also means slower project timelines and warranties that don’t hold up when you need them. The right contractor brings verified credentials, honest assessments, and labor and material warranties that actually mean something. That combination is what separates a roof that lasts from one that leaks again in three years.

What Is Smart Choice Contracting Known For?
Smart Choice Contracting has been handling residential roofing across Nassau and Suffolk County since 1999. They focus on roof replacement, repair, inspection, asphalt shingle installation, vinyl siding, and gutter guard installation. With over 2,000 completed projects, they hold Owens Corning Platinum Preferred Contractor status, which puts them in an elite group of only nine contractors carrying that certification on Long Island. They back their work with 50-year full labor and material warranties, and their 5.0 rating across 96 customer reviews reflects a consistent standard few contractors can match.
What Sets Smart Choice Contracting Apart for Roofing Companies In Huntington?
Owner Mike Falco personally performs every estimate, which removes the sales-driven pressure that tends to inflate quotes from larger operations. That kind of direct accountability is rare in this space, and it shows in how consistently clients describe the experience as transparent and stress-free.
What Users Are Actually Saying:
Customers repeatedly mention how thorough the crew is, from the actual roofing work down to the property cleanup afterward. The lack of hidden fees comes up often, and a 5.0 rating across nearly 100 reviews suggests this isn’t a fluke.
2. Cardinal Roofing – Best for Residential and Commercial Roofing with Insurance Claim Support
What Is Cardinal Roofing Known For?
Cardinal Roofing is a family-owned contractor based in Huntington, WV, serving the tri-state area from locations in Huntington and St. Albans. They bring 30 years of experience across residential and commercial roofing, siding installation, and window installation. CertainTeed certification backs their work, and they handle a full range of commercial roofing systems including TPO, PVC, EPDM, BUR, and modified bitumen. Most local contractors don’t offer the combination of residential and commercial work under one roof.
What Sets Cardinal Roofing Apart for Roofing Companies In Huntington?
Cardinal Roofing guides customers through the insurance claims process from start to finish, which is a genuine differentiator in a market where most contractors hand you a quote and leave the paperwork to you. Their financing options starting at $99 per month also make larger projects more accessible for homeowners who need work done before they have the full budget in hand.
What Users Are Actually Saying:
Specific review data wasn’t available for Cardinal Roofing at the time of research, but their 30-year community presence and CertainTeed certification point to a contractor that has built its reputation through long-term relationships. That kind of longevity usually means repeat clients and word-of-mouth referrals, not just one-time transactions.
3. County Roofing – Best for Residential and Commercial Roofing with Manufacturer Certifications
What Is County Roofing Known For?
County Roofing has been operating on Long Island since 1989, covering roof replacement, installation, repair, and inspection alongside siding, windows, gutters, and chimney services. They work across Nassau County, Suffolk County, Queens, and Westchester. What makes them stand out is their triple elite certification from GAF, Owens Corning, and CertainTeed, a distinction held by roughly 1% of contractors nationwide. They use direct employee installers rather than subcontractors, and the founder stays involved in every project. Lifetime warranties and 0% financing are also part of the package.
What Sets County Roofing Apart for Roofing Companies In Huntington?
Triple elite manufacturer certifications combined with a no-subcontractor model means every project runs through the same trained team with direct oversight. That reduces the quality inconsistency that can creep in when work gets passed around. Their BBB A+ rating and 150-plus five-star Google reviews suggest that accountability shows up in actual project outcomes, not just in marketing materials.
What Users Are Actually Saying:
Customers consistently point to the quality of workmanship and the professional conduct of the crew throughout the project. The company’s 35-plus-year track record builds confidence even before work begins, and the post-project follow-through keeps people coming back for additional exterior services.
4. Rapid Roofing – Best for Residential and Commercial Roofing with Emergency Response
What Is Rapid Roofing Known For?
Rapid Roofing is a locally owned operation serving Nassau and Suffolk County across five Long Island office locations. Their services span roof replacement, repair, specialty roofing, coating, restoration, and skylight repair, covering materials including architectural asphalt shingles, metal roofing, flat roofing systems, and designer systems. They hold Owens Corning Platinum Preferred Contractor status, an Angi Super Service Award, and a BBB A+ rating. Their installation methods are built to exceed manufacturer requirements, not just meet them, which is worth noting when comparing local contractors.
What Sets Rapid Roofing Apart for Roofing Companies In Huntington?
Their five-office footprint across Long Island means faster response times for emergency leak repair calls, and that accessibility matters when a storm hits and you need someone on-site quickly. Transparent pricing and manufacturer-backed warranties round out an offering that competes well even against longer-established names on the Island.
What Users Are Actually Saying:
Rapid Roofing advertises over 300 five-star customer reviews, and the patterns across those reviews point to reliability and consistency as the top themes. The combination of industry awards and volume of positive feedback across multiple platforms suggests this is a contractor that has scaled without letting service quality slip.
5. Long Island Roofing & Siding – Best for Residential Roofing, Siding, and Window Services
What Is Long Island Roofing & Siding Known For?
Long Island Roofing & Siding has been serving Long Island homeowners for over 20 years with a focus on roofing, siding, windows, and chimney services. They run all work through their own direct crews, which means no day laborers and no subcontractors showing up on your property without proper vetting. They use premium materials throughout and put real effort into customer education as part of every project, so homeowners understand what’s being done and why. Flexible payment options, competitive warranties, and monthly specials across Suffolk County communities round out their offer.
What Sets Long Island Roofing & Siding Apart for Roofing Companies In Huntington?
Their direct-crew-only approach removes the accountability gap that often appears when subcontractors are brought in mid-project, which is one of the more common sources of quality complaints in residential roofing. The focus on leaving properties cleaner than when they arrived is a small detail, but it reflects a level of professional care that repeat customers consistently mention.
What Users Are Actually Saying:
Customer feedback highlights professionalism, punctuality, and clean project sites as recurring themes. Clients feel informed throughout the process rather than handed a finished product with no explanation, and that kind of communication tends to build the referral-based business that keeps a contractor operating for two decades.
Methodology Behind These Picks
Gathering Baseline Information
The starting point was building a broad list of roofing contractors actively serving the Huntington area. Contractor directories, local review platforms, and official company websites were all used to identify candidates. The goal at this stage was to capture any contractor with a visible, active presence in the market rather than narrowing too early. Name recognition alone didn’t qualify anyone; the contractor had to show up across multiple sources with documented service history.
The Shortlist Cut
From that longer list, contractors without verifiable service records were removed first. Review patterns were analyzed across platforms, with particular attention to volume, recency, and consistency. A company with a handful of five-star reviews written within the same week carries less weight than one with hundreds of reviews spread across several years. Contractors where review quality raised questions were set aside at this stage regardless of how polished their websites looked.
Fact-Checking the Picks
Each contractor that made the shortlist had their website claims cross-referenced against external sources. Certifications mentioned on a company’s own site were checked against manufacturer directories where possible. Claimed years of experience, service areas, and warranty terms were all compared to what actual customers described in their reviews. When gaps appeared between what a company advertised and what clients reported, those discrepancies factored into the final placement.
Authority Signals and Industry Standing
Manufacturer certifications, industry awards, and mentions in local publications were all evaluated as signals of standing within the roofing services space. Certifications from manufacturers like GAF, Owens Corning, and CertainTeed carry real weight because they require training, volume thresholds, and ongoing performance standards. BBB ratings and trade organization affiliations were also reviewed, not as automatic endorsements, but as indicators of how a contractor manages disputes and maintains professional accountability.
Roofing Companies In Huntington Track Record
The final check focused on each contractor’s demonstrated history serving the Huntington and Long Island market. Dedicated service pages, verified local reviews, and documented project histories in relevant geographic areas were all reviewed. Contractors with strong general reputations but limited documented work in the Huntington region carried less weight than those with clear, verifiable track records in the specific communities homeowners in this area actually care about.
Picking the Right Roofing Companies In Huntington for You
The best roofing contractor for your project depends on more than price. Material quality, crew accountability, warranty terms, and local knowledge all play a role in whether your roof holds up for years or needs revisiting sooner than expected. Here are the main factors to weigh before you commit.
- Industry/Domain Experience: Look for contractors with documented years of operation in the specific Huntington or Long Island market, not just general roofing experience. Local knowledge of permit requirements, weather patterns, and common material performance matters.
- Features and Services: Confirm the contractor handles every aspect of your project, from inspection through installation and cleanup. Bundled services like gutter installation or siding repair can simplify coordination.
- Pricing Structure: Ask for itemized quotes and confirm there are no hidden fees. Financing options (like 0% plans or monthly payment structures) can make larger replacement projects more manageable without compromising material quality.
- Results Measurement: Check review volume and recency across multiple platforms. A contractor with 300-plus verified reviews carries a more reliable signal than one with fewer, older testimonials.
- Industry Knowledge and Compliance: Verify that your contractor is licensed, insured, and familiar with local roofing codes, permits, and contractor licensing requirements specific to Nassau and Suffolk County.
The Verdict
Roofing is one of the few home improvement projects where cutting corners creates problems you won’t see until they’re expensive. Smart Choice Contracting stands out for its owner-led estimates and Platinum Preferred certification, while County Roofing and Rapid Roofing bring comparable depth with strong multi-platform track records. Cardinal Roofing suits the WV tri-state market. Whichever contractor fits your situation, prioritize verified credentials, honest pricing, and warranties that are actually worth keeping.
