‘Mid century modern’ is a design term used to describe a style known for clean, simple lines and blend of practicality and aesthetics. It covers roughly the period from 1950 to 1970, and is still popular today. It evolved in a post World War II world to use newly developed design techniques and serve the growing need for furniture that was stylish but not too expensive. At the time, it made a refreshing change from the more ornate designs of the previous generation and marked the move forwards into a new era.
