For many of us, our garden is where we head to when we want to switch off from the everyday. This outdoor space has become increasingly important, especially in recent years when many of us have spent our days sat in the makeshift home office or experienced some major life changes.

And the garden has become a must-have for many property buyers. According to Rightmove, there’s been a 70% increase in searches for gardens in the last few years.

If you love your garden and want to get the most out of it, it’s worth thinking of ways to reimagine the space. To help you create a stylish, efficient garden, here are some ideas to inspire you.

Create a veggie or fruit patch

A fruit or vegetable patch is a great way to use a corner of your garden. As well as giving you a great excuse for spending more time outside, it could provide you and your family with salads, fruit and vegetables to see you through the seasons.

You will need to find a good spot where your crops can access sunlight and ideally, you’ll need to keep them sheltered from any adverse weather conditions. It’s worth being aware of any pests that might want to munch on your veggies too, and adding small fruit cages can be a useful way of protecting them from these.

Add some furniture

It can be easy to wheel out the same deckchair and old table, but why not invest in some new garden furniture to add something special to the space? And the old furniture can be repurposed into quirky plant holders or as support for wall-climbing plants.

It doesn’t have to be old garden furniture, either. You could take an old chest of drawers from the spare room and fill them with plants or even reimagine an old bathtub. Quirky, sustainable planters that will look cool in your outdoor space.

Whether you have walls or fences, you can use these to hang plants or build in space for climbers like ivy. You might also want to add holders for your garden tools here. Using every inch of the space in this way is a neat, efficient way of storing the essentials.

Update your fences

As well as utilising the space, it’s worth holding off hanging anything from your fences until you’ve given them a revamp. If it’s been a while since they were last painted or protected, take the time to fix anything that needs addressing to make sure they are both supportive and stylish.
