Oh, we do like to be beside the seaside! Oh, we do like to be beside the sea! Sadly, for most of us that’s not practicable on a daily basis – but we can have the next best thing. It’s surprising how evocative a deckchair is – you only need to put one up to feel the sea breeze on your face and the sand between your toes. This year, we’re treating ourselves to a couple of new deckchairs, perfect for alfresco lounging – even if it’s just in the back garden. From traditional candy stripes to contemporary florals, here’s what we’ve found.
1. Mishcka deckchair, Myrtle & Mary
This lovely solid deckchair has a frame made from FSC-approved beechwood and features a design that’s traditional with a modern twist. The striped background has a geometric border and cherry blossom accent. It’s also available in a different but complementary design. £245, available from Myrtle & Mary.
2. Small low green-striped wooden deckchair, Gardenesque
Perfect for smaller spaces, this neat little chair can be easily assembled and folded down to be stored away in less than a minute. It comes apart into two pieces, so it’s also ideal for taking to the beach or on a picnic. Also available in a full size version. £89.99, available from Gardenesque.
