Bamboo decor is still a popular choice in homes, and it’s easy to see why. It’s lightweight, and in terms of tensile strength it’s stronger than steel! It’s durable and resistant to insects and moisture, making it ideal for outdoor settings such as summerhouses. The real advantage, though, is its sustainable credentials.
If you’ve got any bamboo in your garden, you’ll know how fast it grows! This is a commercial advantage, as it can be harvested in just three to five years compared to much longer periods for trees. It doesn’t require the use of pesticides as its shiny hard natural coating renders it less susceptible to insects. Technically a type of grass, it requires no fertiliser and little irrigation. However, these ‘green’ credentials can be compromised by the processing methods used so if ‘eco driver’ is your main driver then you may need to look into the origins of your chosen product.
We’ve put together some ideas for using bamboo decor in your home.
