[AD] If you love the look of wooden flooring, but are put off by the price tag, why not take a look at engineered wood flooring instead? It provides the same luxurious look of solid wood and has heaps of benefits. Here’s a look at some of the main reasons why it’s a great choice for your home.
Engineered wood flooring lasts well
Engineered wood flooring is a form of manufactured wood that is made from at least three layers of wood, with the top layer made of real hardwood. The core, or base layer, provides key stability and strength, then further layers are added on. The layers can vary in thickness, but a thicker top layer could help provide you with a longer floor life.
Plus, when properly cared for and well maintained, an engineered wood floor can last well beyond 30 years.
It could help increase the value of your home
Like solid wood flooring, engineered wood floors can help increase the value of your home. It’s solid, looks great and feels good to walk on and is a desirable asset for property buyers. Choosing engineered wood for your floors, rather than carpet, could help boost the price when it comes to selling.
It’s good for old and new homes
Engineered wood can be used as flooring in any type of home, be it new or old. It looks sleek and sophisticated in modern homes, but equally has benefits for older properties too. The construction of engineered wood means that it can prove to be a more stable choice for older homes. Where uneven floors are concerned, engineered wood underlays can be added to help level the floor.
Plus, older properties can be more at risk of issues relating to heat and humidity changes which can affect solid wood. Engineered wood is better equipped to stand up to these issues and won’t swell or warp.
It’s budget friendly
A key point where cost is concerned is that engineered bamboo for your floors is a more budget friendly option. It looks just as good as solid wood does, but costs less to have it installed. Add to that all the other benefits, and it’s a win-win situation for your wallet.
Engineered wood floors are easier to clean
It’s important to consider the practicalities of flooring, particularly in relation to how easy it is to keep them clean. Unlike carpet, where dust and dirt can gather in the fibres, engineered wood floors are easy to dust, sweep and brush clean. They can be vacuumed too without worrying about damaging the surface.
Like solid wood, engineered wood floors can be vulnerable to scratching. You can minimize the risks of damage by avoiding wearing stilettos or sports shoes with spikes when you walk on the floor and lifting furniture when you’re moving items rather than dragging them across the floor. Any marks or stains should be treated as soon as possible and the floor can be maintained using oils or lacquer. Check out some more tips for successful engineered wood floor care.
There’s a good choice available
Thanks to the popularity of engineered wood, there’s a very good choice of options available and something to suit all budgets. Whether you want pale, natural wood or a dark and dramatic finish, there are choices to suit all styles and tastes.

It caught my attention when you told us that wooden floors are easier to clean since there are no fibers for dust and dirt to gather in, so we can easily vacuum the surface without worrying about damage. I plan to renovate our old house in San Diego next month, and since one of my kids has asthma, I wanted to replace the flooring with wood instead. I’ll be sure to keep this in mind while I look for a flooring company in San Diego to hire for the hardwood flooring installation we need for the renovations soon.
