If you’ve got a spare bedroom in your house or apartment that is currently being used for storage, junk or just nothing, then you should probably utilise it and make it into a room that you will enjoy going into.
Here are five ideas on how to make use of a spare bedroom.
1. Dressing Room
Every girl’s childhood dream: a walk-in wardrobe and a dressing room. Sometimes it is good to put your face on and get ready in a different room than your bedroom for multiple reasons. It disturbs your partner less if you share a bed and you need to get ready earlier than them and the lighting may be better.
If your clothes are kept in a separate room, then the mess will be kept away from your bedroom (and ‘that’ chair – you know the one). A clean bedroom is proven to help you sleep better too, so you’ll be reaping the benefits of healthy sleep.
2. Office
Even if you don’t work from home or you’re not frequently on your laptop, then it might still be worth creating a small office space. You never know when you might need to spend a few hours looking for holidays or insurance quotes and private office rooms are great for that.
Plus, if you invest in a bookshelf and chair for the office, you could always slip in there for a few hours to relax.
3. A Guest Room
You never know when you’re going to have people to stay at your house, so a guest bedroom would always be a good way to utilise your spare room. If you think that your room is too small for a guest bed, then why not invest in something such as a single sofa bed so that it can be used for both a sofa and a bed to save on space.
A guest room isn’t always for guests; if you have a snoring partner and feel like you need a night away from them in another room now and then, then you can utilise this yourself.
4. Home Cinema
If you’re into your films and your Netflix, then why not make a cinema room? Purchase some comfy bean bags, cushions, some popcorn and then you’ll have yourself your own personal Odeon cinema. This saves on the hefty cinema fees!
5. A Workout Room
Setting up your home gym can save you that monthly gym fee and will also encourage you to keep on top of your fitness a little more as you won’t have to leave the house. There are plenty of home workout videos on YouTube that you can get involved in and you won’t have to wait for other people to finish with your favourite pieces of equipment.
