Some gadgets make everyday jobs easier, some are neat and clever and some are, frankly, a little pointless but huge fun! We’ve put together our top gifts for gadget lovers for 2019, and these are sure to please the pickiest recipients. Here’s what we’ve found.

We think this may be the coolest thing we’ve ever seen – it’s a ‘build your own computer’ kit. It includes everything you need, plus 150+ hours of tutorials. It’s not only a great present for children, it’s also guaranteed to keep your techie other half out of the way on Christmas Day! Recommended by no less than Steve Wozniak of Apple fame, it costs £149.99 and is available from Kano Computing Ltd.
3. aFunk Portable Bluetooth Speaker Black Edition, Kreafunk
This neat little portable speaker gives clear, deep audio; the circular design allows for 360 degree sound, making it perfect for sharing your favourite tunes with friends. It’s available in several colours you could mix and match your speakers and looks good enough to have on show with its gun metal grille and leather handle. 4. Masterclass deluxe cook’s blowtorch, KitchenCraft
Keen cooks will appreciate this deluxe blowtorch, used for searing, caramelising and melting. Technical aspects include an adjustable, anti-flare flame which works at all angles, safety lock, fuel level window and a refillable cylinder for easy refilling. This soup maker plus is a ‘one-stop-shop’ for a whole host of comforting recipes. It can do any combination of sautéing, cooking, simmering, stirring and blending all inside the thermal glass jar, so it’s perfect for soups, risottos, curries, sauces and much more, and you only have one thing to wash up. Ideal for the winter months, it costs £140 from Cuisinart.
6. World’s smallest vacuum, Prezzybox
This tiny little vacuum cleaner has an excellent suction facility for its size, and would be perfect for keeping in the office (crumbs out of keyboards), the car (crisps out of seats) or in the kitchen (flour, everywhere). 7. Glitter colour changing vintage lamp, Yes I Want It
Remember we said that some gadgets were pointless but brilliant? Step forward the glitter colour changing lamp! It’s been styled to look like a retro lava lamp – just shake it to turn the light on and watch the glitter shimmer and move. Battery operated. It costs £6.99, available from Yes I Want It.
8. Smartphone magnifier, Getting Personal
The smartphone magnifier allows you to watch all of your favourite videos on an eight inch screen by just slotting your phone behind the magnifying glass. The magnifier is designed to look like a retro TV set and costs £22.99 from Getting Personal.
