One of the best aspects of the arrival of warmer weather is being able to eat meals and entertain outside. After a busy week at work, what better way to enjoy the outdoor space than cocktails in the garden before dinner?
If you’re planning on serving cocktails to guests, then it’s a nice idea to dress the table for the occasion. We used a selection of bright and contemporary textiles from Dekoria to transform a plain wooden table and chairs into an inviting cocktail corner.
We started with a crisp white rectangular tablecloth – an essential item that you can’t go wrong with – then added a colourful table runner in a contemporary print.
The New Art table runner not only adds a fabulous splash of colour, but it’s also useful for an extra layer of protection on a white tablecloth, just in case of any accidental spills. We love the rainbow of colours in this table runner, which provides a variety of ways in which it can be accessorised for other dining occasions. In this case, the colours worked well alongside fruity cocktails and helped provide a burst of lively colour for the evening.
Wooden garden chairs aren’t always the most comfortable to sit on for long, so we added some soft and stylish cushions for back support. As we own plenty of cushions already, it was an added bonus that Dekoria sell cushion covers, so we could use them on our existing cushions without the added expense of more unnecessary cushion pads. It also makes them a lot easier to fold and store when not in use.
A cover design that matches the table runner is available, but our favourite was the Wera cushion cover with pompoms in a contemporary geometric triangle print. It uses exactly the same New Art colourway as the table runner, so is a perfect fit. The pompom edging is a really nice touch and helps finish the design off to a tee.
Both the cushion covers and table runner have a white background, so blended in well with the use of the white tablecloth on the base. All items were well made and come complete with instructions for washing.
If you’re not come across Dekoria before, they sell a huge range of home and garden textiles, including tablecloths, runners, napkins, cushion covers and chair covers, plus blinds and curtains. Most of the products are available in a wide choice of fabric options – and if you’re not sure if they’re suitable for your specific project, you can order fabric swatches to check.
What’s more, many items can be made to measure, solving the problems often encountered with non-standard sizes. Items are shipped direct from Poland via a UPS carrier and delivered to your door.
We were impressed with the quality and design of the textiles…and the cocktails went down rather well too!
What would your theme be for a summer cocktail evening?

I love the pom-poms on the edge of that cushion and the print is very pretty too! having little details like that outside make such a difference doesn’t it.
We love our patio and we entertain a lot. These colors are so pretty and would match my pillows
Love these. My outdoor table crush right now is flamingo pinks and palms. Bright and fun!
The color, pattern and design will surely add comfort and visual interest to your party. These will tell your guest you are truly taking care of them! ❤️
What a simple way to transform a space and add a pop of colour. Must check out Dekoria as I do need a new table cloth
Those cushions are really cute. I love the idea of being outside for the day and evening in the sun. In the UK we normally have this about three days a year so all ready for it!
I know, fingers crossed it’s more than three days this year!
ahhhhhh lovely colours here – instantly a feel good factor!
It’s amazing what effect a good colour palette can have!
