The other day we were browsing the web looking for furniture inspiration when we came across this website. It belongs to a firm that offers a interior design and furniture rental service. Unusually, this company offers their furnishing service to individual homeowners rather than just commercial property owners. Seeing this got us thinking about who might benefit from using a furniture rental service and, as you will see, we came up with quite a few ideas.
Furniture rental for new homeowners
Buying or renting your first home is financially challenging to say the least. Sometimes you may only just manage to scrape together the deposit you need, but have little left to actually furnish the property.
This is especially the case if your credit rating is not fantastic. In that situation, buying new furniture on credit is impossible. So having the option to rent what you need instead, such as a sofa, chairs or bed, is a great alternative.
Furniture rental for would-be landlords
If you have a spare room you want to rent out making sure it looks nice and appealing is essential, not least as there’s a lot of competition out there. So, the room you have needs to look right for you to stand any chance of being able to rent it out.
However, understandably, you do not really want to go out and buy new furniture only to discover that there is very little demand for rooms in your area. Instead, it makes far more sense for you to rent the furniture that you need and dip your toe in the water, so to speak. Once you have determined that there is sufficient demand and that you can charge a high enough price you can then go out and actually buy some new furniture.
The above applies regardless of what type of tenant you are targeting. Holidaymakers expect the rooms they rent to be nicely furnished. A room that looks nice in the photos on AirBnB or AirAway is going to rent out far faster than one that looks dated. The same is true if you are looking for a permanent tenant. Both sets of renters want a room that looks comfortable, clean and modern.
If you are considering renting out space in your home, you will find this article very useful. It quickly explains what you need to consider and provides you with a step-by-step guide that you can use to make sure everything goes smoothly.
Using rented furniture to try out a new look
If you’re a homeowner who’s planning to radically change the look and feel of your home, you may also benefit from being able to rent furniture. Doing so enables you to try out a new look before investing too much money.
There really is nothing worse than going out and buying a new suite of furniture only to discover that you cannot stand the way it looks. Or worse, discover that it is not practical or comfortable. Hiring something similar for a couple of months, to try out, greatly reduces your risk of ending up having to live, for several years, with furniture you do not like.

I think rental furniture is great if you are selling a property you don’t actually live in because some people really struggle to visualise it furnished!

We thought about doing this for staging our house when we go to sell it, but the rental furniture I found was really expensive!

I like the idea of trying it for a new look to see if I like it. I never thought of that! Genius.

I never realised that you could rent furniture – what a great idea! Especially useful for developers staging a property or if you need to temporarily change a room for a different purpose.

I love the idea of renting furniture if you are renting a home. IT goes together quite well and you do not need to worry about how it will look in the next home.

Really like the idea of being able to ‘try before you buy’. Many people are quite definite about furniture choices, but equally some are not, and this is a great option for those who need to live with a style for a while first.
