As we bid goodbye to spring, it’s time to welcome summer in style – and what better way than hosting a barbecue.
Lighting up the grill and having a barbecue in your garden is perfect when the weather is sunny and warm. It’s a chance to put your outdoor cooking skills to the test, entertain friends and family, and try out different barbecue recipes. But even though the meat and vegetables may be cooked outside on the BBQ, you’ll still need to prepare some items inside in your kitchen.
In this post, World Kitchen bring you some tips on how to get your kitchen ready for summer BBQs!
De-Clutter Your Kitchen
When you’re preparing for a barbecue, the chances are that you’ll have plates of salads, salad dressings and other foods waiting to be taken outside, not least drinks to be served and dirty dishes coming back in afterwards.
Having an organised kitchen makes the process much easier to manage, so spend some time tidying and cleaning your kitchen before you get carried away with your actual barbecue. De-clutter worktops and make space for plates or drinks to be laid out ready for guests. You’ll also need adequate space to ensure plates and utensils used to take raw meats out to the barbecue are kept separate.
Clean Your Barbecue Grills
Next up is to clean your barbeque grills, and any outdoor cooking utensils, which you may not have used since last year. It’s a good idea to get this done in advance, so you don’t have to spend time cleaning when you could be socialising.
After you’ve had a barbecue, it’s advisable to clean the grill as soon as possible, rather than leaving it. It will be easier to clean when it’s fresh, rather than baked on hard, is more hygienic and will ensure you’re ready to get going with your next barbecue as soon as you want,
Get An Elegant Outdoor Dinnerware Set
For a stylish barbecue, have you got suitable dinner sets to serve the food on? You may be eating outside, but you don’t need to compromise on style.
Invest in a smash resistant dinnerware set from brands like Corelle. As well as ensuring that if anyone accidentally drops their plate it won’t smash into heaps of sharp shards, the plates should last you for numerous outdoor dining occasions.
The Dreaded Cleanup
As with any meal or event where lots of family and friends have attended, the cleanup after can be the worst part. Who wants to clean up 20+ plates, bowls and cutlery, especially when its most likely late in the night and you’d just like to relax?
If you’ve got a dishwasher, now is the time to put it into action – it doesn’t take long to get it loaded, and you can then leave it running whilst you enjoy a nightcap with friends. If you’re not blessed with a dishwasher and aren’t keen to wash up straightaway, leave all the dirty dishes soaking overnight to take the worst off them, then tackle the clean up in the morning.
Happy barbecuing!
