The weather might still be a bit dark and dreary outside, but why not brighten things up on the inside with a quick spring refresh?
Thankfully updating a room doesn’t need to cost a fortune if you know where to shop. Even making a few small changes, like adding new cushions, can make a significant impact.
Sainsbury’s have an excellent range of affordable home products to help you create a new look at home for less and you can save time by picking up all the pieces during your weekly shop. They’ve recently released some new products for Spring 2017, including the Ethereal range. The range cleverly mixes Scandi inspirations with mid-century modern, including floral and geometric designs, for a fresh and contemporary style. The colour palette is based on soft pastels, including yellow, duck egg blue, grey and a soft pink.
Sounds appealing? Here are some ideas for using the Ethereal range to give your living room or study a quick, affordable and easy update.
Living room update
The Ethereal range includes lots of lovely soft furnishing that are perfect for a quick living room update.
If you’ve had the same cushions on your sofa or chairs for a while, then why not try some new designs and colours? Something as simple as changing your cushions can uplift your interiors and the Ethereal colour palette is perfect for adding a sense of spring into a room.
The geometric zig zag crewel cushion works well combined with the sunny yellow contemporary embroidered cushion and they’re both really affordable at only £12 each.
The herringbone throw is a lovely duck egg blue shade, which tones in with some of the colours on the geometric cushion. It’s lovely and soft, perfect for snuggling under on a chilly evening.
The same themes are used to great effective in ceramics, such as these geometric mugs. They come as a set of four in grey and duck egg blue and even have a stand to help them stack neatly on a work surface. At just £10, they’re a great buy. The round tray shows off the Scandi influence in style. It’s made of melamine and an absolute must-have at only £6.
If you don’t need a set of four mugs, or prefer a bigger drink, single, slightly bigger mugs, are available for only £3.50 each.
Study or desk update
Whether you have a dedicated study in your home, or simply a small desk area for your laptop, why not give it a spring clean and refresh the look?
The set of grey Ethereal drawers could have many uses in your home, but their size makes them perfect for popping on a desk and using to store stationery and accessories, such as paper, pens and sticky notes. They’re well made and the drawers open with a little leather effect pull handle. At £28, they’re a great way to get your desk tidied up and more streamlined.
Likewise, the wire storage basket (£14), in its white and gold finish, is perfect for holding A4 folders, magazines or notebooks.
There’s a useful wire noticeboard (£14) too, which can be hung either vertically or horizontally. There are gold clips provided with it ready to hang important notes, memos or reminders from, but plenty of space to add your own too.
And to make sure you keep track of time, why not hang the grey Ethereal wall clock (£12) above your desk?
The Fresh Design Verdict
The colour palette of the Ethereal range is a winner with us. The soft grey and pink are popular colours at the moment, but they’re given a fresh spring lift with the yellow and duck egg blue. We’re impressed at the quality and affordability of all of the products and it’s a lovely range to use to inject a sense of spring into your home.
This is just a small selection of the products available. Head over to the home section at Sainsbury’s to check them all out, as they’re selling out quickly.

I think supermarkets have really upped their homewares game as of late. I think my favourite is the clock though – looks so much more expensive than it is!
Rachel Newcombe says
Yes, they have all improved their homewares in recent years and it’s really useful for anyone on a budget.
Carole says
These all look so fresh and pretty without being overly “sweet” (if you know what I mean). A lovely update for Spring 🙂 xo
Rachel says
Absolutely! I can’t do mega ‘sweet’ things, but this colour palette worked for me.

This is a lovely range! Perfect for Spring. Love the colour of that clock! Well done Sainsburys – I think they bring out some really nice homeware collections.
Stacey Sheppard says
I find shopping in supermarkets really dangerous these days. I never impulse buy anything, in fact I really overthink all my purchases. Except when I’m at the supermarket. Things tend to just slip into my trolley. I bought 3 jumpers last time I went to Sainsburys. Luckily the home section in my local store is really small otherwise I’d be in big trouble.

Ooh – that clock is fab for just £12. Need to add that to my weekly shop.

I adore the little gold bunny on the lid of the pin jar. I saw a diy project somewhere to paint old figurines or toys and put them on lids in such a cute way <3
