If you read our recent #ukhomebloghop post, then you’ll already have seen several lovely items that we picked up at TK Maxx and Homesense. Until now, they’ve not been places that are automatically on our ‘go to’ shop radar, but that’s definitely changed.
This year, we’ve enjoyed a lovely mooch around the home department of TK Maxx and its sister store, Homesense, and found some fab home buys that’s made Christmas home styling a breeze. Not only do both store have a great range of homeware products (and Homesense in particular is brimming with ideas), but they’re also very well priced…and when you’re on a budget, that’s always really helpful. So here’s a bit more insight into the products we used and their prices.
The candle in the image above is the Alpine Reserve pine and vanilla scented candle. The silver candle holder is very substantial and has a nice wood effect on it. Priced at only £7.99, the candle would make a lovely Christmas gift and looks like it cost far more than that.
For our minimal fireplace decoration, we used these gorgeous hammered metal stars on either end. Made in India, they’re designed to stand upright and fitted the bill really well. In fact, these don’t necessarily have to just be out at Christmas, as a star could easily be incorporated into a room scheme during the rest of the year. The stars were £9.99 each. The jingle bell star hanging above seemed very well priced at only £4.99 – we’ve seen plenty of smaller pieces for this price.
In the middle of the mantlepiece is a lovely silver Christmas tree (£7.99). We think it’s probably made of glass, with a silver finish coated onto it. It’s got lovely texturing running down the body of the tree and it’s very effective.
You can’t have a good Christmas celebration without cocktails, and now we can make and serve them in style. The copper and silver cocktail shaker is a super bargain at only £5.99. The round silver tray (£12.99) is a nice large size to hold plenty of glasses or bowls of nibbles and the sparkly silver finish is just right for the party season.
We couldn’t resist this white geometric penguin! Not sure what he’s made of, but he’s lightweight and large in size, so a great piece to add height to a display. The penguin was £7.99.
Finally, this decorative stag bell caught our eye too and, at only £4.99, it seemed mad not to buy it. It’s very nicely produced and the metallic silver colour goes well with all the other pieces we bought.
All in all, we were really impressed with the quality, choice and price of all the products and will definitely be shopping more at both stores in the coming year.
If you want to discover more about the types of products on offer, then you can buy online at www.TKmaxx.com, but be warned that products tend to sell out quickly, so don’t delay if there’s something you’re interested in. It’s a similar case in store, where they often don’t stock huge numbers of the same products and can’t guarantee they’ll have more in, so it’s best to buy things when they have them.
