Do you have problems with mobile phone reception at home? Here’s a useful solution, in the form of the BT Halo bluetooth phone.
This nifty telephone cleverly allows you to connect your mobile via bluetooth, so you can make and receive calls from your mobile on your home phone. For areas where reception is dodgy, this is a brilliant solution. The compact phone handset sits on a round base unit, which incorporates a useful answering machine, and you can use it hands free if you’d prefer.
Not only is it practical though, it’s also super sleek and stylish. The phone was designed in collaboration with an award-winning design agency and features a comfortable, curvy design that’s lightweight, slim and sits well in your hand. The round base unit is an attractive design feature and the phone can perch on it with the keypad and display facing forwards or backwards.
The phone is easy to set up. Once it’s had its first charge, you can follow through the instructions and link up your mobile phone. It’s simply a case of activating the bluetooth function on your mobile, then finding the BT Halo in the list of nearby bluetooth devices and clicking to link them together. You can sync all your contacts too, so that it’s super easy to make calls and know who’s phoning you. It’s got room to store up to 3000 contacts, so even someone with a huge contact book is well catered for.
What’s more, there’s no need for your partner to feel left out, as you can sync up to two mobile phones to the Halo. Or if you have a work mobile that you frequently use at home, that can be synced alongside your personal mobile.
In terms of functionality, the BT Halo phone is top notch. The screen on the phone provides a caller display function, so you can see the number that’s ringing you before you answer it – useful if you need to screen calls. In fact, you can set it to block nuisance calls, so no more unwanted PPI or double glazing calls to deal with.
The keypad on the phone is back lit, making it easy to dial a number even when the light is poor or it’s getting dark. If you have an answerphone message waiting for you, an icon will appear on the phone screen. Plus, the base unit will flash and beep. For someone who frequently for gets to manually check for answerphone messages, this is a godsend, as there’s no chance of missing a message again.
As well as being useful for making and receiving mobile calls in an area where mobile reception is haphazard, the BT Halo is great when your mobile battery is running low, or your phone is on charge. There’s no need to worry that your mobile won’t last for a whole call, as you can use the BT Halo instead.
The BT Halo phone is available to buy as a single handset, or in a pack of two. The single unit costs £99.99, whilst the double pack is better value at £139.99. If you’re looking for a Christmas gift idea for a tech or home gadget fan, then the BT Halo phone is definitely a great option.

I don’t have a landline anymore, but if I did this phone would be a lovely one to have – so sleek and stylish!
I couldn’t not have a landline – what if the mobile network goes down?!
Looks great. I still have a landline but don’t really use it anymore. Stylish phone though x
Thanks for the comment, it’s a nicely designed phone.
What a good idea. Looks pretty good too. x
Yes, it’s definitely a clever idea.
I have patchy signal, even in London, might need to invest in one of these!
It’s very useful for getting over signal issues.
I hardly use my home phone, but my phone battery is always running low come the evening when I want to chat to someone. So this would work well for me!
Looks great Rachel, landline phones can be so ugly, so this is a welcome idea.
