If you’re looking for an easy way to create an eye-catching Christmas display at home, then why not try this super idea for using a glass Christmas tree display jar?
The glass trees featured in a post last year that’s been very popular and this year Cox & Cox kindly gifted one for us to try out. Having loved the design and concept for a while, and having had a slight mishap when trying to buy one elsewhere a few years ago (I mis-read the measurements online and ended up with a tiny version….yes, a classic mistake!), it was lovely to finally have a large version to play with.
Thankfully, it very much lived up to expectations. The Christmas tree jar is made from toughened glass and comes well packed in two pieces, a large piece which serves as the main body of the tree and a smaller piece that sits on top. The tree is completely hollow inside, all the way from the top to the base, so there’s plenty of room for it to be filled up. As it measures 50cm in height, it’s a substantial piece.
In fact, when it comes to filling up the jar, it has quite a large capacity and takes a lot to fill it completely. We opted for a silvery metallic winter theme and filled ours with an array of silver baubles, lights, snowflakes and stars.
It’s a bit tricky filling the jar to the top, as when you put the top section on, everything has a tendency to dislodge and fall down…but as you can see, we did manage to get the odd bauble to stay in situ in the top section!
The Christmas tree jar makes an ideal focal point for a display in your home, whether on a shelf, cabinet or as a table centrepiece. It can be filled with decorations to match your Christmas colour scheme, or perhaps in a contrasting colour to create a pop of interest. As well as filling it with decorations, you could also use it to display chocolates, star shaped cookies, nuts or other Christmas treats.
The glass Christmas tree jar is priced at £40 from Cox & Cox and, for a seasonal piece that will last year after year and can be used in so many different ways, it seems good value for money.

Such a versatile festive gift – you could make it look different every year!
Oh I love this – it’s so pretty and versatile! Love the idea of snow and little trees, very very cute! xx
Such a lovely idea. I really do love everything on the Cox and Cox website but must have missed these. I’m off over to have another look.
Ahh these are gorgeous – and really versatile. We’re doing a pom-pom themed Christmas for my little girl and I bet one of those trees would look so colourful stuffed with lots of colour! 🙂
What a sweet idea. I would fill it with quality streets!
I love that snow scene one!! Very clever ideas here thanks
Argh I so want this, it’s gorgeous. But I have absolutely nowhere (safe) to put it with two small kids that are exceptionally good at climbing. I’m tempted to buy it anyway and store it in the loft until they’re teenagers!
Love the wintry scene in the jar. What a fabulous idea. They all look lovely. x
Really lovely alternative for those who maybe don’t have room for a conventional tree. I think I’d fill mine with gingerbread biscuits!
