If you love bold, modern and geometric styles of wallpaper design, then you need to have Erica Wakerly wallpapers on your radar. The British wallpaper designer is renowned for her contemporary style and has produced a range of wallcoverings for modern homes. In this post we take a look at who the designer is, why she’s worth following and some of her top wallpaper designs.
Who is Erica Wakerly?
Erica Wakerly is an award-winning British wallpaper and interior textiles designer. Her brand, Erica Wakerly, was launched in 2006 and she produces a growing number of wallpaper and fabric collections.
Erica studied at the Royal College of Art and gained a Masters in Printed Textiles. She was named the Young Designer of the Year at the Homes & Gardens Classic Design awards in 2007 and has also picked up other design awards, including the Elle Decoration award for Best Wallcovering for her Homes design.
Some of the notable wallpapers in her design label include Angles, Block, Buzz, Pop, Mini Spiral and Fan.
Angles wallpaper by Erica Wakerly
If subtle geometric wallpaper is your cup of tea, then here’s a striking design by Erica Wakerly.
The Angles wallpaper is available in several colour options, including silver and white, cream and gold, nude pink and gold, lead grey and gold, and black and gold, but our favourite choice is definitely the silver and white, which has a distinctly ethereal feel to it.
Block wallpaper design
Erica Wakerly’s Block wallpaper is a bold geometric design that creates a statement on a wall. It’s available in a variety of colour options, but those incorporating metallics are particularly striking.
We like the Block design in the copper burnish, grey and black option, which offers a great way of getting a touch of metallic copper into your wall decor.
Buzz flocked wallpaper
Buzz is a geometric patterned wallpaper that’s been given an extra oomph with the addition of flocking.
The wallcovering is available in several colourways including white flock, white flock with silver lustre and black flock with gold lustre.
It’s amazing what a difference the flocking has, taking a simple design to new levels with the addition of texture.
Hothouse wallpaper
Moving away from geometrics, the Hothouse wallpaper takes inspiration from botanics with its leafy design. There are multiple colourways to choose from, but we’re rather fond of this one, which is silver, white and jade.
Mini Spiral
The Mini Spiral design is a scaled down version of Erica Wakerly’s original Spiral wallpaper and is perhaps a bit more subtle. It’s got an Art Deco feel to it, with spirals on a striped background. The warm cocoa brown colour with textured bronze metallic lines adds a feeling of cosiness and comfortcore into a home.
Fan design
The Fan design wallpaper is inspired by the pattern of traditional oriental fans. The striking contemporary design, with its repeated pattern, adds a sense of movement to a wall. It’s available in a choice of colour options, including black and white and several featuring metallics, but for a bedroom or living room we rather like this French blue and white colour.
Wallpaper samples and rolls of all Erica Wakerly’s designs can be purchased online from Modern Wallpaper or Wallpaperdirect.
