Waterloo Union Jack armchair

One of the current trends in interior design is the idea of incorporating the Union Jack flag into products. It’s an idea that needs to be applied gently, for example with just one flag design, as too much of it could prove over the top!

In recent months we’ve seen flag designs spring up in a range of products, from cushions to tins, but here it’s used most effectively on a chair.

The Waterloo armchair combines an antique French style chair, with a distressed white finish, with vintage Union Jack fabric – and each one is unique.

If you’d like to add a touch of the Union Jack trend into your home in the form of this chair, then the Waterloo Armchair is available from The French Bedroom Company for £460.

I love the products you’ve found. There are also some interesting twists on the Union Jacks coming through, like cushions using the Union Jack design but in addition to the blue and red colourway you can have also have orange, pink or lime. And there are some great really affordable art pieces that are using the Union Jack in interesting ways as well, such as making the Union Jack out of a montage of tiny photos of UK images, or pieces of art that crop in on just part of the Union Jack and then, like the cushions, use interesting colours. The Union Jack design is so iconic that it’s great to see that designers and artists are putting their all into giving us fresh ways to enjoy it.

Thanks for leaving a comment, Catherine. I agree, it is great to see designers coming up with more and more creative ways of using the Union Jack in their work and I like the introduction of all the different colours, whilst still retaining the iconic image.

The union jack designs you have found are great and seem to be used a lot more in interiors and fashion labels such as Ben Sherman and PAul Smith.
This web site is using the Union Jack in a very interesting way and the St. George Cross and I believe the MOD logo.
The products are candlestick holders and also door stops/book ends, using a very British product which is the building block for the whole country a good old recycled London Brick.
Great for interior design projects and gifts.
