The Vogue home. Well, it’s probably an expensive home, but we’re going to give you some ideas that they talk about a lot in their articles, focusing on design trends in 2024. Because if anyone knows how to do style, it’s Vogue. Read on to find out more.
Colour Fusion
Finally, the colours are back! Did you get bored with neutral colour palettes? Because Vogue did. And with the exit of neutral colour palettes went the exit of single-tone colour themes. We wouldn’t go as far as to say the more colour, the better, but we think two bold colours can look incredible together.
The upcoming year should revolutionise our colour palettes – just make sure you pick colours that will actually look good together. You can definitely get this wrong.
Textural Richness
In 2024, Vogue thinks textural richness is in. They’re thinking of rustic charm with natural textures. If you read articles online, natural textures are definitely a trend in 2024. Think weathered wood, hand-made pottery, texture linens – anything with natural textures. And no, we don’t mean your average house plant. They still look good, but there are new trends people are focusing on.
Personalisation Over Uniformity
Vogue also thinks a little bit of personality and personalization will beat uniformity. That’s not to say it doesn’t look good, but homes with personalization are more on trend in 2024. It could be the unique design of Penny Morrison’s luxury lampshades instead of a plain and simple one. Or a quirky ornament in the corner of the room instead of an indoor plant (although indoor plants are definitely still on trend).
Fluid Forms and Geometric Precision
Curves continue to captivate the design world – they’ve been on trend for a while now. Everything from furniture to architectural details takes on a more rounded silhouette in homes, and we love it.
Still, according to Vogue, there’s also a growing appreciation for geometric clarity. This interplay between fluidity and structure can look beautiful. You can still achieve the look by simply adding round items – a glass bowl, a round mirror, a round coffee table – that sort of thing.
Sustainability as a Standard
Sustainability is definitely something everyone is thinking about – and one Vogue article (and many other decor magazines) thinks sustainability will be standard. And the design world was one of the industries that needed to focus on it – some materials were contributing to the deforestation crisis. If you’re going to go for a Vogue home, go for materials with a lower environmental impact or go for locally crafted pieces. They’re usually more sustainable than wholesale items by brands like Ikea.
2024 will be a good year for interior decor. We’re finally doing things differently and embracing some change. It’s much better than the neutral colour palette basic interiors that stayed on trend for what felt like ten years. No offence, if that’s your decor at the minute, but times are changing. It feels like there are so many more opportunities to be creative.
Having the chance to play with different colours and textiles feels much better – but you must make sure you’re doing it right.
