Some home features come and go. Others catch on and remain popular for many decades. Figuring out which ones turn into flashes in the pan versus which ones stick around isn’t always an easy answer.
In this article, we’ll discuss some home features that seem like they have staying power.
Open Floor Plans
Open floor plans have become more popular over the past couple of decades. You can find homes with an open floor plan for sale in Mount Pleasant and all over the country as well.
An open floor plan means that there are as few retaining walls and encumbrances as possible throughout the home. Usually, though, you will see the concept working in the downstairs area. That might encompass the living room, dining room, den, or family room.
The open floor plan works well because you can see how much space the home has on the first floor. If you’re having a party or some other gathering, you have floor space where the guests can congregate. You can play games there or mingle and converse.
Any time you buy a home with a garage, you will probably like it and use it frequently. If you own a car, or if you’re a two-car family, you can keep those vehicles in that garage.
There, you will know the weather isn’t impacting them. If you live somewhere that gets major snowfall in the winter, severe rainstorms, etc., you will probably appreciate knowing that the elements aren’t pummeling your car.
An attached garage might also make you feel happy when you are looking over some available homes. If you can get a home with an attached garage, you can pull the car into it in a storm and get out at your leisure. You can walk through the walkway into the house, and the rain, snow, or whatever else will not touch you.
Most homeowners want laundry rooms in 2023. Nobody likes leaving the house and doing laundry in a laundromat if they can avoid it.
You can always set up a washer and dryer down in the basement. If you have an unfinished basement, that can work well.
However, more people want homes that include dedicated laundry rooms. You might have one right off of the kitchen or in the garage – as long as the room provides ventilation, it can work perfectly.
Outside lighting does not usually cost all that much, and many homeowners want it. If you move into a house and you find that it does not have outside lighting, you should probably install some the first chance you get.
You can set up outside lighting in various ways. If you do not feel like you can handle it yourself, then you can hire an electrician. They can discuss multiple lighting rigs and other options that can light up your front yard, backyard, and side yard with no problems.
If you have outside lights, you can set them on timers when you leave town, or you can set up motion activation instead. Either way, you should feel more secure. If anyone approaches, you will notice the lights turn on. This will deter prowlers or burglars if your neighborhood has any.
Some homes don’t have central air, and maybe you’ll feel okay about that for a while. You might have some ceiling fans, and you’ll use those in the summer. You can also install window AC units. You can chill certain rooms that way, but you won’t have whole-house temperature uniformity.
You can install central air, and it won’t usually break the bank. If you live somewhere warm, you will probably want that once you can save up the money.
You must buy a central air unit, and you will also need an HVAC company that can handle your necessary ductwork connections. Once you’ve done that, you can turn it on and really feel the difference.
You can enjoy your central air while you live there, and you can also mention it when you list the house if you ever sell it. You will probably get a higher price if you have central air since so many people want it these days.
If you have a home with all of these features, you’ve got a good change of selling it easily when the time comes. Until then, you can enjoy living comfortable in your home with these desirable features!
