Are we the only people who think spring and summer can’t come soon enough this year?! It seems like winter’s gone on for ever and a day, but we’re finally nearing the end. Spring flowers are everywhere, and it’s even stopped freezing/snowing/pouring down – for now! We’re starting to think about letting some light and colour into the house to give it a fresher feel after those long, winter days, and have picked out some bright new ideas to add a pop of colour.
1. RHS spring floral tea towel, Ulster Weavers

Floral prints needn’t be old fashioned. Mix this cheerful tea towel with plain, stripe or check fabrics to create a contemporary look. Produced under licence from the Royal Horticultural Society, this 100% cotton tea towel costs £6.50 and is available from Home Landing – it’s a great way to jazz up a kitchen on a budget.
2. Tilton paint, Annie Sloan

This egg-yolky yellow is perfect for a feature wall. Tilton is one of three exclusive colours created as a part of the Annie Sloan with Charleston collaboration. (Charleston Farmhouse was the home and meeting place of the Bloomsbury Group in the 1920s.) Tilton is a deep, bright mustard yellow Chalk Paint® colour inspired by the beautifully painted circle motif on Vanessa Bell’s decorative wardrobe from 1917 in Charleston Farmhouse. £21.95 for 1 litre, available from Annie Sloan.
3. Blue and purple flowers cushion, Louise Meade

A contemporary take on the floral theme, this bright cushion is based on an original painting. Designed, and manufactured in the UK, it’s available in a choice of faux suede, polyester canvas or linen and comes complete with cushion insert. Available in different sizes, prices start at £21 for the 11″ x 11″ size from Louise Meade.
4. Large jar candle in lime and basil, Price’s Candles

Scents are very evocative, and this citrussy candle with its hints of summer basil will add a fresh aroma to your home. Available in different sizes, prices range from £5.25 to £18 from Price’s Candles.
5. Two colour stem warm grey roller blind, Blinds2Go

Nothing updates a room more quickly than a new window dressing, and we like this roller blind from the Orla Kiely collection in crisps tones of grey and orange. Available in different sizes and finishes, prices start at £25.65 from Blinds2Go.
6. Pink and green velvet cushion, Luxe 39

In bright jewel colours, this velvet cushion is reversible so you get two looks for the price of one. It comes complete with a cushion insert and is available in a range of sizes. Prices start at £45 from Luxe 39.
7. Spring flight bed linen set, Voyage Maison

This pretty bed linen captures the magical spirit of birds in flight, giving a sense of colour and movement. The sets include two standard pillowcases and duvet cover with a button fastening, and prices start at £88 for the double size from The French Bedroom Company.
8. Urban fall in spring print, Anna Jacobs

A limited edition of 100, this archival print, created with rich pigment ink on a beautiful heavy weight watercolour paper, is made to order in East London. Based on an original painting by artist Anna Jacobs, it’s available in three different sizes. Prices start at £160, available from Anna Jacobs.
9. Melon bowl, Bordallo Pinheiro

This hand-crafted and hand-painted earthenware melon bowl is made in Portugal by famous brand Bordallo Pinheiro. It measures 15cm in diameter by 7.5cm high and is part of a range that contains cake stands, platters, bowls and jugs. £28, available from Micucci.
10. Cornflower print, Creature Candy

Perfect for a kitchen or bedroom, this new range of botanical prints features some of Britain’s most loved wildflowers – we like this hand drawn image of a cornflower. Each print is presented on textured G. F. Smith paper, giving the image a sense of depth and realism. 10% of the purchase price will be donated to Plantlife. Prints cost £15, available from Creature Candy.
