Once seen as old-fashioned and fussy, patterned wallpaper is back with a bang. Modern wallpaper can be edgy, contemporary and playful, allowing you to show your quirky side. Some of the designs can be expensive, but they’re more like an artwork than a wallcovering, and will bring you pleasure for years. In fact, there are plenty of designs out there that take inspiration from artists such as Van Gogh and Andy Warhol, if you want to own your own masterpiece!
Wallpaper is a quick and easy way to transform a room, although these big, bold designs are best left to a single feature wall so that they don’t become too overpowering.
If you go for a really striking wallpaper, keep other wall art to a minimum and keep the remaining walls plain. You don’t have to go for plain white, though – picking out one of the colours of the wallpaper can work really well. Keep furniture clean and simple, and floorcoverings neutral so that your feature wall becomes the focal point of the room. Here are ten prints we’ve picked out.
