 Patriotic textiles by Jan Constantine
The shops are awash with London 2012 themed homeware, but if it’s textiles you’re after, then you must check out Jan Constantine’s products.
British designer Jan was awarded an official license to manufacture London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic home textiles and has produced an eye-catching array of red, white and blue patriotic products that will help you retain memories of the games long after they’ve finished.
The patriotic cushions are made in linen and embroidered in wool, with bold London 2012 emblems. They’re now on sale at the Olympic Park London 2012 Megastore, online from the London 2012 shop or via Jan Constantine’s website.
A percentage of the sale of each product goes towards the cost of staging the Olympic Games.

 Relax in a deck chair
The sun is out – hooray – so it’s time to relax in the sun after work.
You can’t beat a good old traditional British deckchair and this one has been given a contemporary twist with the modern colours used to funk up the Union Jack design.
 Garden bean bag
Or, for a more relaxed seating choice, how about the same lively design on a bean bag? (Actually, we rather fancy lounging on the deck chair with our feet on the bean bag – bliss!).
The Best of British deckchair costs £39.99 and the Union Jack bean bag is priced at £22.99, both from Homebase.

The Great British Union Jack has fully infiltrated the interior design world in many forms – we’ve seen it on wallpaper, sofas, radios, chairs and now an ottoman footstool.
Funky and stylish, the square ottoman makes the perfect occasional seat or footstool. It’s made from a solid wood birch frame, with solid beech dark stained feet, and upholstered in a quality velvet Union Jack pattern.

UK designer, Melanie Porter, specialises in creating unique hand knitted, contemporary chairs.
The chairs are all sourced from auctions and markets around the country, and are stripped back, restored and re-upholstered before being covered with a series of hand knitted panels. The end result is a one-of-a-kind chair and unusual piece of art.
What makes the chairs even more individual, is that they’re all given names.
 Olivia - knitted egg chair
This is Olivia, a green hand knitted, modern egg-style chair.
 Jack - knitted tub chair

Edward - Union Jack knitted chair
And here’s Edward – a 1970s swivel chair, with a bold and bright hand knitted cable Union Jack design.
You can see more examples of Melanie’s work on her website, but she also has a store on Not On The High Street with knitted chairs for sale, plus other lovely knitted items. The Edward chair is available to buy from there, plus Percy Union Jack knitted cushions in various colours, a knitted table and an unusual knitted clock.

 Jan Constantine design candle
One of the popular ranges by British designer, Jan Constantine, is her Union Jack inspired homeware pieces (we’ve featured some of her cushions before, for example).
Now that same iconic design has been transformed into a china votive candle holder, by leading ceramicist, William Edwards. The essence of Jan’s original stitched designs shines through in the china version, especially with the visible inclusion of her blanket stitch trim around the edge of the design.
If you love Jan Constantine’s designs, then this would be a lovely addition to add to your home.
The Jan Constantine Union Jack candle is £12 from We Love British (and postage is only £1.75).

 Perch on a Union Jack
We’ve explored several different ways in which you can bring the Union Jack trend into your home and show your love of all things British, but this is probably one of the most subtle.
The Union Jack bean cube is the perfect place to perch when you need an occasional seat in your home, or to rest your tired feet after a busy day. It’s made by Fleur-de-Lis Furnishings from 100% cotton and, although it will bring a bit of added colour and interest to a room, we rather like the faded colour look of this as opposed to ‘in your face’ bright colour.
The Union Jack bean cube is a nice little piece and a great buy at only £24.99 from HomeSense.
