The offers section of Heal’s is currently bursting with plenty of great deals and up to 70% off some items, so is a definite must for fab Friday bargain hunters.
Here are some fab kitchen accessories for kitting out a fresh design kitchen.

As fan’s of MissPrint designs, it’s a brilliant bargain to find the green woodland design mug for just £2.10. Buy a set of four and still have change from a tenner.

We love the quirky design of the Bliss in the Woods acorn salt and pepper set, with the ceramic acorns pots sitting on an oak tree shaped leaf (made of oak wood, of course). The set is now half price at £17.50.

If you’re going to be baking or measuring cooking ingredients, then you need a reliable set of kitchen scales. These Typhoon electronic kitchen scales are sleek in design, yet lively in style. Choose from a multicoloured or black dot design, now half price at just £18.
And finally, it’s not for the kitchen, but we can’t resist mentioning this rug….

The purple flat weave wool rug was £230, but is now reduced to £69. Great for adding a splash of colour to your floor and an extra layer of warmth for your feet to step on.

Modern living is all about clean lines, uncluttered spaces, and the harmonisation of form and function. But it’s all too easy to end up with a clinical, soulless interior if you take the minimalist design philosophy too far. Rugs are great for adding some softness, colour and proportion to a contemporary urban home.
This guest post takes a look at 10 of the coolest modern rugs money can buy.

This Roundel Rug is available from RugTraders.co.uk for £147.99. The simple, timeless bullseye design, used by the RAF since WWI, will also be familiar to any fans of The Who and the 1960s pop art movement.

Prices for this Splat Rug start at £149. The design takes inspiration from the abstract expressionist movement, with obvious echoes of Jackson Pollock. Another great statement piece for the modern city-dweller.

This Eden Palm rug is available in a range of sizes, with prices from £39.99. The understated design takes its cue from nature, making it a perfect counterpoint to cold, synthetic materials like steel and acrylic.

This unique Bubbles Square rug is designed by Sonya Winner, and available from Heals.co.uk for £1,995. Sonya – an acclaimed designer whose work has been compared with Matisse – says this rug is “inspired by bubbles blown from a wand that cluster together reflecting the surrounding colours as they float into the sky.”

Inspired by the early-20th century De Stijl art movement, made famous by the likes of Piet Mondrian, this Coloured Cubes rug costs from £239. This is a classic design that won’t ever go out of fashion.

This Infinity rug is hand-made in India and costs from £375. This is a really versatile design that will inject colour and form into any space, whether it’s a kid’s bedroom or stylish modern living area.

This Street Art Girl rug costs £199.99. If you like edgy design with an emphatically urban flavour, this bright, bold rug is full of inner-city attitude.

If money’s no object, this Fly Tip rug could be yours for £1,220 per sq/m. The design almost defies description, but it’s still guaranteed to be a real conversation piece that will make an impression in any contemporary home.

Imported from Holland, this Kodari Canvas rug will set you back upwards of £1,169. It’s definitely not cheap, but you’re paying for a designer piece, hand-knotted in Nepal using traditional techniques.

Finally, available for just £31.45, this Che Guevara rug would make a great addition to a student flat. For radical style on a tight budget, look no further.

 Luxury pebble effect rug
If you’re back at work, but still pining for the beach, then here’s a contemporary rug that could help keep your beach memories alive.
The Brighton Beach rug is cleverly designed to create the effect of pebbles on a beach. It’s made from felted wool, so is super soft to walk on or sit on.
Like a beach, each of the ‘pebbles’ is different, with varying colours and darker and lighter shades of stone.
It’s a brilliant and fresh design and so effective. The Brighton Beach rug is available in two sizes, small and large, from Frances Hunt.
The rug is currently on offer, with 20% off the usual price.

We’ve just discovered Unique Boutique and they certainly live up to their name, by selling some unique and quirky products!
The jigsaw rug and create your own puzzle rug caught our eye, as they’re both rather novel – they’re made from woollen felt and have an interactive element to them, as you can change the design and look to suit your mood.
With the jigsaw rug, you can design your perfect rug layout by putting the jigsaw pieces together in the design you want. The pieces come in stone and lime green colours for a modern look.
The puzzle rug is made of white woollen felt with an all over cut-out design. It comes with lots of tiny triangles in a rainbow of colours that can be placed in position on the rug as you see fit. Have them as an ordered pattern, or create random designs. It’s bit more fiddly than the jigsaw rug, but still looks like lots of fun.
There are some other similar rugs available too, so check them out if you’re after a rug with a difference.

Everywhere we go, we keep coming across this Anorak blue and white seagull print on various items. So we’re taking it as a sign that we should feature some of the homeware products with the print on!
It’s a very summery and fresh print and quite a contemporary design – what do you think of it?
 Seagull cushion
The seagull print cotton cushion is from Graham and Green, and they’ve currently got it reduced in their sale. It was £37, but is now down to £25.90.
 Picnic rug
The matching Anorak seagulls picnic rug, which is made from cotton and has a waterproof back, is available from John Lewis for £36.
 Seagull table mats
There are tablemats available in the seagulls design too. This set of four table mats costs £27.50 from Starfish Bay.

Remember the Stamp Collection mugs we featured before? Well now you can take your love of stamps even further, with these great stamp-inspired rugs.
Made from 100% New Zealand wool, the stamp rugs feature the distinctive image of the Queen on a plain coloured background. The edges of the rugs are white, finished off nicely with the classic scalloped detail you see on the stamps. The rugs measure 1.2m long by 1m wide (although other sizes are apparently available) and come in a choice of colours, representing the appropriate stamp prices:
Purple / burgundy rug – 1p stamp
Pink rug – 16p stamp
Grey rug – 50p stamp
Olive rug – 56p stamp
Red rug – 62p stamp
If you don’t want to use the rug on the floor (or can’t bear the thought of standing on the Queen’s head), then the rugs can also be hung on your wall as wall art.
The quirky stamp rugs are sold by Isabel Ballardie Interiors. Sadly they cost somewhat more in price than the stamps they represent!
