The eye chart home accessories trend

Monday, September 12th, 2011

Trends in home accessories are an interesting breed and sometimes it’s surprising just what becomes popular. Who would have guessed that the humble eye chart – an essential piece of equipment for opticians – would become a sought after home accessory?

Back in 2009, we featured the Luckies eye chart tea towel, which you all loved. Two years on, several major retailers have jumped on the eye test bandwagon and come up with new versions of this intriguing idea. So if you loved the quirkiness of the eye chart tea towel, the chances are you’ll like these pieces too.

Kitty McCall: Among The Trees cushion

Contemporary cushion for a modern home

Contemporary cushion

Cushions are one of the easiest ways of updating the look of a sofa, chair or bed and we’re constantly on the lookout for new designs.

This cushion design – Among The Trees – from textiles company Kitty McCall (run by London-based print designer, Catherine Nice) is buzzing with colour and energy. It has a fresh and contemporary feel to it and is unlike any other cushion design we’ve featured before.

The printed design is, “inspired by layered patterning created while drawing with no fixed starting point or end,” and each cushion is unique.

At £69, Among the Trees is not a cheap cushion, but it is unusual and there’s plenty of depth and interest to keep drawing your eyes back to it.
