See through telephone from Pedlars

Funky transparent phone

Ever wished you could see what’s going on inside your telephone? When you’re making calls, or waiting for the phone to ring, this funky telephone allows you to peek inside at its inner workings.

The transparent telephone is a reconditioned and refurbished 746 model. Originally used in telephone exchanges, there are now less than 100 of these phones available, or so say Pedlars.

The phone has been refurbished inside and out and is fully compatible with modern BT phone services – all you need to do is plug it in and you’re away.

To get your hands on a reconditioned transparent 746 telephone, head over to Pedlars, where they’re available for £145.

Flocked phone

Flocked phone

‘Flocking’ and ‘phone’ are two words that you don’t normally find in the same sentence.

But this vibrant pink phone, by Johnny Egg, has to be seen to be believed.

Based on the original 706 telephone, with a traditional rotary dial and bell ringer, this modern adaptation of a favourite old design has been transformed with the use of flocking.

It’s not often you want to stroke a phone, but this is a real ‘touchy feely’ product and, with its bright colour, it’s not a phone you’ll easily mislay.

To get your mitts on a Johnny Egg flocked phone, head over to Heal’s. They’re currently awaiting more stock, but you can pre-order one.

Chrome phone

Chrome phone

Forget cordless and hands-free - make a statement in your home with a glamorous chrome phone.

Based on the traditional European 1930s style telephones, this stylish phone would have looked just the part in a hotel lobby, but now you can give it a home in your house. The phone is compatible with UK phone lines, but if you don’t want to put into active use, it would look great used as a home accessory.

The chrome phone is available from Notorious Kitsch for £59. If chrome isn’t your colour, they also do a rather lovely red phone too.
