Starfish and shell shaped silver spoons

Ocean themed spoons

For those that love the nautical trend in interiors, then here’s another fab way of bringing the theme into your home, this time through a great seat of spoons.

The neptune spoons, which come as a set of six, feature ocean-related designs, such as a shell, starfish and fish. Each silver plated spoon is different and measures between 12 and 14cm long.

The spoons are nicely produced and would add a quirky touch to a table. Use them for dessert or for eating ice cream on a hot day - they’ll remind you of being beside the sea.

You can purchase the neptune spoons from Buy the Sea for £21.95.

We featured the zebra wallpaper from Turner Pocock Cazalet a few weeks back, but for fans of tennis, they also produce a rather unusual tennis themed wallpaper as part of their English Sports range.

Available in a choice of natural - which is actually an electric green colour - or vintage, which is a cool taupe shade, the wallpaper features a repeated pattern of tennis rackets and balls, which is very effective and looks great on the wall.

If you’re a fan of tennis and design conscious, then perhaps this is the wallpaper for you?

You can purchase the tennis racquet wallpaper from the Turner Pocock Cazalet store on Not On The High Street. One 10m roll costs £75.

Limited edition print

Limited edition print

We love the sentiment of this limited edition print. Produced in a vintage style, the red typographic wording is printed in a distressed look and it’s complemented by a chunky, solid oak frame.

It’s a good sized piece of wall art, measuring 55cm by 55cm and it’s ready to hang straight up on your wall.

Only 250 of these have been produced and you’ll get a certificate to tell you which number yours is.

The Love Makes the Ride Worthwhile print is by Coulson Macleod and can be purchased on Not On The High Street.

Quirky boat funnel storage stool

Tuesday, April 27th, 2010

Boat funnel stool

The nautical trend is sweeping through fashion and homewares this season - here’s an unusual way of bringing it into your home.

The base of this quirky red and white stool is designed to look like a funnel found on a boat. A sturdy wooden lid is located at the top of the boat funnel, on which sits a jaunty red and white signal flag canvas cushion, which provides a comfortable seat.

But if you lift up the wooden lid underneath the cushion, down below, in the hollow area of the funnel, is some storage space. This could be used for hiding magazines, children’s toys, secret chocolate stashes or even your laundry.

It’s a fun and unusual piece of furniture and, if you want to add the boat funnel storage stool (which measures 47.5cm by 42cm) to your home, it’s available to purchase from Nautical Living.

Tin can storage jar

Tin can jar

Tin can jar

Hot on the heels of the porcelain flour bag container, the glass plastic bag bowl, the porcelain carton milk jug and the ceramic egg box, comes the tin can storage jar.

It looks deceptively like an ordinary tin can with the label removed and even has an intact ringpull on the lid. But there are no baked beans in here!

No, this tin can is a specially crafted storage jar. Made from porcelain, it’s available in the platinum glaze (which really looks the part) or an off-white colour. Use it to store sugar, coffee, tea bags or even biscuits.

The tin can storage jar is available from the Found Home Store for £12.

Bright contemporary house number sign

Friday, April 2nd, 2010

bright-contemporary-house-numbercontemporary-patterened-house-number

To help the postman, delivery people and visitors succesfully find where you live, a clear house sign or house number can really make a difference. But all too often, standard house numbers are a bit plain and boring.

We’re on the lookout for a new house number and spotted these fab contemporary handmade signs by Tillie Mint. The signs are hand cut from quality weatherproofed wood, then decorated with either a patterned background or patterned numbers.

There’s a choice of different designs available, including the modern, bright floral background, a funky floral design or a red cherry design, and with the bright colours, they’d really help your house stand out. Even the patterned numbers are nice too, as they add a bit of colour and interest, without being overpowering.

The house number signs measure 15cm by 15cm and can be purchased from Tillie Mint on Not On The High Street.

Reclaimed comic decoupage chairs

Wednesday, March 10th, 2010

superman_chairreclaimed-bonanza-comic-chair

Bring your favourite comic heroes into your home, in the form of these unusual comic decoupage chairs.

Handmade from reclaimed vintage 1950s chairs, the chairs have been re-designed and given a completely new look, with the help of comic decoupage.

If you’ve got a favourite comic, then you can pick which one you’d like adorning the chair - the blue one above, for example, features Superman. You also get to choose the colour of the seat pad.

If comics aren’t your cup of tea, there’s also the option to have a chair covered in the pages of a favourite magazine, map or even a newspaper.

These unique chairs are created by Bombus and are available to order through Not On The High Street.
