 Glass bauble lights
There are loads of lovely Christmas lights available, but if you want to combine something decorative with a lighting option, then these bauble lights are ideal.
These pretty gold lights are shaped like Christmas baubles and are fitted with LED battery operated lights.
As far as lights go, they are delicate as they’re made of glass, so need to be hung and handled with care. You could use them on a Christmas tree, where the 2-in-1 bonus would mean you don’t need heaps of other decorations, or you could use them to light up your living room or hallway.
The string of glass bauble lights measure 180cm long in total and are £12 from Next.

 Brick design wallpaper
Textured effect wallpapers, like the log cabin stacked wood mural we featured recently, are all the rage at the moment.
If it’s a brick wall effect you’re after, then here’s a great wallpaper design that’s super affordable.
The bricks wallpaper is from Next and helps create the effect of a well worn textured brick wall.
As you’d expect with a normal wall, some of the bricks look more worn than others, with pale shades running through them, whilst others have darker patches. Compared to some other similar wallpapers, these bricks have got just the right balance of colour to create a realistic brick wall effect.
The brick wallpaper is ideal for creating a feature wall – a whole room papered in this might be too much. At only £15 a roll from Next, it’s not going to break the bank if you want to give it a try!

 Cream food processor
One of the kitchen appliances I’ve never owned is a food processor.
Every now and again – and usually prompted by a recipe that only gives instructions for making it with a food processor – I think about buying one, but am usually put off by the price and the worry that it won’t get used enough to justify paying that much for it.
But having come across this cream food processor at Next, which seems remarkably well priced and has some good reviews, I’m tempted.
It looks a reasonable size (three litre bowl), but still compact enough to not take up masses of room in a cupboard, and it’s a nice design.
The cream food processor is £45 from Next.
Do you have a food processor and, if so, do you use it a lot? I’d love to hear your food processor recommendations!

 Liven up your kitchen appliances
The new range of kitchen appliances at Next includes some lively options, like this red and white spot kettle and toaster.

The two slice toaster coordinates perfectly, with a matching red and white spot design.
Both items are in stock at Next, with the pyramid kettle priced at £32 and the toaster at £22.
There are other similar small kitchen appliances available, including a range with a cream heart design, more spotty pieces and lots of vibrant colours.

 Purple Christmas tree
For a vibrant Christmas tree and festive decorating scheme for a contemporary home, how about opting for a rich plum?
This striking purple Christmas tree and coordinating decorations are all from Next and are a great starting point for a plum theme.
The six foot artificial Christmas tree is two tone and comes with a metal stand. It’s £60.
Many of the decorations are affordable, so won’t break the bank. For example, a set of 50 assorted shatterproof tree baubles in shades of lilac and purple costs £10.
The mini glitter trees, seen on the mantlepiece, come as a set of five and double up as name place card holders that you can use on a dining table. They’re only £6 for a set of five.
Various other purple themed decorations are available too, including the plum flock stags (£12 for 2).
Update Nov 2012: For more gorgeous purple Christmas ideas, check out our new post on the best purple contemporary Christmas trees.

 Contemporary roll top bath
Did you know that Next sell bathrooms? It’s easy to miss, as their bathrooms are sold via a separate link to their usual site, but it’s well worth a look if you’re planning on updating your bathroom or ensuite.
There’s something about large freestanding baths that is utterly appealing – they feel more luxurious to use and look very elegant in a bathroom.
This contemporary jacuzzi Asti roll top bath is a modern version of a traditional claw footed freestanding bath. The bath is a lovely shape, with curved sides to aid comfort and taps and a plug in the middle. The elegant design is given a touch of extra shaping with a subtlely scalloped edge on the side panel.
The jacuzzi Asti roll top bath is available from Next Bathrooms for £799. In addition to individual items for the bathroom, Next Bathrooms also sell a range of bathroom suites at affordable prices.

 Tuscany leather sofa
If you thought a customisable leather sofa would be out of your price range, then think again.
This stylish Tuscany leather sofa is available from Next, where you can choose which type of leather you’d like (Italian leather, Dallas leather or Rio leather), which colour shade you’d prefer (tan, black or dark brown) and which size of sofa, sofabed, seat or charir you’d like.
A medium Tuscany leather sofa in dark brown Italian leather, for example, comes in at £999, an extra large sofa is £1049 and a super functional, medium sized sofa bed is only slightly more at £1199. A matching chair and the nicely named ‘Snuggle Seat’ are available too and you can stick to the same type or colour of leather for everything, or mix and match.
With proper care and attention, a leather sofa can last for years, so it’s a good investment to make for a piece of furniture for your living room.
To find out more about the options available in the Tuscany leather sofa and chair range, head over to Next.

Best known for her insightful approach to buying property, TV star Kirstie Allsopp from Channel 4′s “Location, Location, Location” has recently launched a new range of bedding.
Kirstie’s bedding collection features a mixture of designs, reflecting contemporary and traditional design trends. We rather like the look of the navy blue and white Camille collection, which uses a modern take on the classic blue and white patterns to create a crisp and fresh bedroom look.
If red is more your colour, then the vibrant Lydia collection may appeal. Although it has a country influence, with the use of red and white gingham, the patchwork effect floral pattern adds an extra area of interest to the pieces and it’s zingy and fresh.
Both the Camille and Lydia collections, plus the rest of Kirstie Allsopps bedding, can be purchased from various stores, including Next. In addition to the bedding, matching cushions, throws and curtains are available too, which can help you complete the look.
Prices for the Camille duvet cover and Lydia duvet cover start at £50 from Next.
