   italian-clear-glass-coffee-table                    clear-glass-coffee-table

If you’re on the hunt for a glass coffee table, then it’s worth checking out the tables on offer at M&S, especially as they’ve got a special 50% off furniture deal starting today (and running until 26th January 2010).

The contemporary glass coffee table, with its Italian design, is perfect for any discerning modern home. Its rounded ends and smooth, flowing lines help it fit effortlessly into a room and it measures 38cm by 120cm by 60cm.

If you prefer a table that’s slightly less cutting edge, then the Viva coffee table, with its brushed metal finish, is a good classic option.

It has a shelf underneath, which would be handy for storing magazines or children’s toys, although with the glass top you can’t get away with hiding too much clutter underneath! This table measures 40cm by 85cm by 50cm.

For more home furniture bargains, including reduced sofas, cabinets, armchairs and beds, have a look at the M&S furniture sale.

John Lewis reversible upside down black Christmas tree

Thursday, December 3rd, 2009

jl-black-reversible-christmas-tree

Have you ever wished you could put your Christmas tree upside now? Erm, me neither.

Clearly somebody has though, as John Lewis are selling a couple of reversible upside down Christmas trees this year, including this modern black one.

It’s a novel idea and the tree can either sit upside down in the stand that’s supplied with it, or be put up in the usual way.

The black upside down tree is £80, but they also do a green one for £73.

Would you buy and use the upside down Christmas tree?

Three stunning room screen dividers

Tuesday, November 17th, 2009
Screens or room dividers are great for using in rooms of your home where you want to screen off or hide certain parts of a room, such as cluttered corners, or divide your space into particular areas, such as splitting your living area into a relaxation zone and a home office.

Screens come in a variety of decorative designs and sizes and can be works of art in their own right.  Here are three of our favourites.

1. Landscape photo screen

You can choose the image you want and it’s printed onto the hardwearing canvas screen, giving you effective wall art, as well as a practical room divider. If you’d like an inspirational view, then images of the countryside or sea work really well.

The screen is available with between two or four panels and costs from £249 from Bags of Love.

2. Oriental hand carved decorative screen

Five of the best modern vases

Sunday, June 14th, 2009

We’re always on the look out for new, innovative and unusual products - and that includes vases. Here are five of the best modern and stylish vases we’ve found recently.

Napali porcelain vase

Napali porcelain vase

1. This striking Napali porcelain vase would look equally good on its own, used as an accessory, as it would with a simple arrangement of flowers in.

It measures 10″ high and has a delicate pattern of swirls swishing around the outside (it’s the kind of design that would look great as a lamp or lampshade too). It’s $120 from Clio Home

Normann Swing unique vase

2. For a vase that will create a wow factor, then you can’t go too far wrong with this Normann Swing vase.
A truly unique piece, each glass vase is blown by mouth, so no two are completely identical. The swing vase is available in three sizes, with prices rangings from £22 to £33, but there’s a special offer on at the moment for all three for £75.

As well as purple, the vase is available in black, white, red or green. Buy it from Plain Gorgeous.

Grass vase

3. If you’re after a natural look, then how about this cleverly designed vase? It’s wonderfully eyecatching and is officially described as a Grass Vase (although we think it resembles asparagus stems much more than grass).

It’s actually cleverly crafted out of ceramic and is made in Denmark.

The grass vase is available in three sizes, priced from $51 to $66, and can be purchased from Clio Home.

Gocce Murano glass drop vase

4. Murano glass is one of the most popular forms of glass in Italy and is used in a wide range of products, from home accessories to jewellery.

Here it’s used to great effect in the form of an elegant glass drop vase.

Designed by Formia Glass, and part of the Gocce collection, the Murano vase features an opaque jet black core that’s surrounded by crystal clear glass. The contemporary style vase is 30cm tall.

Buy it online from Murano Glass for £110.

Salzburg glass vase

5. Clear glass vases serve a multitude of purposes and are one of the handiest types of vase to own.

This Salzburg glass vase measures 45cm by 21cm and looks great filled withn contemporary twigs - the sparklier, the better - or a large bunch of flowers.

The Salzburg vase costs £44.04 from Graham and Green.

Stylish flower inspired table

Friday, April 17th, 2009

table

Flower images are often found in a whole range of designs, but now Japanese designer, Shige Hasegawa, has created a rather funky flower inspired table.

The Hana Table is being exhibited during the 2009 Milan Furniture Fair. The flower design is based on traditional origami techniques (which usually involves folding paper, but in this instance it’s wood). Rather than having lots of screws and nails, the glass top is fixed to the base via the five plywood legs. This makes the table easy to assemble and perfect for flat-packing.

Wouldn’t it look great in your living room?

Modern two-way rotating door

Wednesday, March 25th, 2009

ergonCreating the perfect indoor environment is really hard, especially when you’re dealing with awkward spaces. If you’re struggling with a small space where there’s not enough room for a standard type of door, then how about trying this?

Look at the picture - the door slowly rotates in, so the required space is half that of a normal door. It’s an Ergon rototranslating door and it makes a huge difference in rooms where you’ve got limited space.

Futuristic lamp idea

Friday, March 20th, 2009

lampA new futuristic lamp concept has showed up on the net. This design looks really good - the body part can slide and the lamp itself turns on.

This modern piece of wall art is still just a concept at the moment, but it looks great and if someone could create a product from this, it’s sure to gain customers!

Perhaps it won’t be long before we see it for sale on the market?
