Ah, the anglepoise lamp – a lighting design classic that’s still as fresh and functional today as it ever was.
The Type 75 mini task lamp is designed by Kenneth Grange and is the perfect size to use as a desk or table lamp. The lamp has a solid base and can easily be angled and moved to the position you want.
We particularly love the lamp in these colours – deep purple, powder blue and forest green – and they’re all available on a special buy price at John Lewis, of £68.

Are you a fan of typography and fonts?
Typography designs feature in a range of decor, homeware and home accessories, but we particularly like the look of this fab ampersand lamp.
The table lamp is made from powder coated white gloss and it has a striking red braided cable with a transparent switch. It would work well used as a light in various rooms – we can imagine it used on a desk, as a bedside lamp or in a living room, for example.
The ampersand table lamp is designed by Goodwin + Goodwin and available to buy for £124.95.
They also produce lots of other typography inspired products, so we recommend a browse of their store.

The Jack light
Do you remember the game of Jacks?
I’ve got fond memories of hours spent playing Jacks and this Jack light by Tom Dixon, which is based on a similar design, brings back plenty of happy memories.
The Jack light is made from plastic and is described as being a, ‘sitting, stacking, lighting thing.’ It’s sculptural in its design and, if you’ve got more than one of them, they can be stacked in quirky ways.
The light was first designed by Tom Dixon in 1994 and in 1997 it was awarded a Millenium Mark status in Britain. It’s available in orange, black or white.
Various retailers have the Jack light for sale, including the V&A Shop, who like it so much that it’s included as part of their permanent exhibitions at the V&A museum.

Giant horse floor lamp
Equine fans….fancy a horse in your living room?
There have been lots of animal lamps around in the last few years, but whereas most are table lamp sized, this one is life size!
The horse lamp was created by Swedish designers Front for Moooi and is made from black polyester. There’s a lot of detail on the horse, making it quite realistic – well, bar the fact that it has a lamp on its head.
You’ll definitely need a roomy house to accommodate this Black Beauty and we reckon it’s bound to become a talking point.
The Moooi horse floor lamp is available to buy from Made in Design.

Elegant pendant lamp
Simple but impressive, this Aquarius pendant lamp draws on the influences of the traditional Japanese origami style lights.
Although the folds on this light are less dramatic than other pendant designs, the effect is equally pleasing and the end result is an elegant pendant lamp that will work in any small to moderately sized room.
It’s very affordable too, as it’s currently reduced to £49 from Fashion For Home.
