Fresh Design Blog has teamed up with The White Company to give bloggers the chance to win up to £200 worth of bed linen.
To enter, all you have to do is write a blog post on your own blog showcasing items from The White Company’s home collections to illustrate how you’d style a bedroom over the festive period.
You can be as creative as you’d like with your post, perhaps creating a collage or moodboard of photos, and adding descriptions of why you’d pick each product or how you’d use them. When your post is written, just leave a comment below, including a link to the URL of your entry post.
The final date for entries is midnight on Sunday 13th January 2013 and the winner will be announced after the 14 January 2013.
Good luck – we look forward to seeing all your bedroom style ideas!
Fresh Design Blog’s Christmas bedroom style….

As for us, we’re currently loving silver and white Christmas décor, so would have to opt for The White Company’s cosy silver grey Rivoli quilt and cushions, used alongside the white Milford fine satin stripe bedlinen. The room would be given a festive feel with the addition of a few select Christmas decorations, such as the sparkly silver vintage crystal star, snowflake decorations and glass spun heart decoration.
For atmospheric festive lighting in a bedroom, you can’t beat crystal fairy lights, which can be strung around a picture, mirror or around a headboard.
And for scents to evoke a festive feeling, which are perfect to have lit as you get ready to go out for an evening or come back ready to unwind, we’d add the winter botanical candle, with its scent of zesty fresh orange of spicy cinnamon.

The New Japan collection of home accessories at John Lewis features contemporary and elegant designs evoking an oriental, with modern takes on origami and some inspiring textural effects.
There are vases, bowls, candle holders, photo frames and decorative objects with smooth, ridged or textured surfaces, in a selection of dark and light colours. The materials used vary from smooth, sleek soapstone, to pale and dark stained woods and, although most of the colours are whites, creams and naturals, the addition of some black, pinks and lilacs adds a bit of colour to the mix.

We love the white hurricane candle holders, with their contemporary origami style design (you could also use these as vases), and the earthenware streamline swallows.
All the pieces are well priced, ranging from £5 to £40 each, and work well used on their own or as part of a wider contemporary oriental interior design room scheme.

We’ve written hundreds of blog posts on Fresh Design Blog this year, covering topics such as interior design ideas, bargain buys, designer furniture, home accessories, decorating options, wallpaper and lots of gorgeous pieces you could add to a modern or contemporary home.
As part of our end of year review, here’s a look at our top 10 most popular posts written in 2011!
1. Taking the prime spot, our most popular post this year was the one looking at the Top 10 free online interior design room planning tools.
2. Second in line is the gorgeously colourful funky Marrakech patchwork sofa, designed and sold by Couch GB. What a brilliant design!
3. It’s good to see that so many of your love the bookshelf wallpaper as much as we do. Our piece featuring ideas to help you create a feature wall with bookshelf wallpaper is the third most popular post this year.
4. Wallpaper always features a lot in our top posts – here it is again, in the form of the Mandara contemporary silver tree wallpaper, which is our fourth most popular in 2011.
5. One of our favourite annual gardening events, and a great place to pick up new contemporary garden design ideas, is the RHS Chelsea Flower Show. Our piece on Diarmuid Gavin’s Irish Sky Garden comes in as the fifth most popular 2011 post.
6. We’ve featured a variety of striking mirror designs this year, and even run a mirror competition. This contemporary handmade rolled art glass mosaic mirror has clearly caught the eye of many of you, as it’s taken the sixth spot.
7. We love quirky home accessories – and clearly so do you – as Morris the memo holder horse and the floppy disc sticky notes, which are both perfect for use in a study on a desk, came in at number seven.
8. Wall art in many forms, including 3D, have been popular in interior design again this year. The colourful gentle roe 3D MDF wall decoration came in at eighth place.
9. Our ninth most popular post was the stunning round driftwood and glass coffee table.
10. And finally, one of the best room dividers we’ve come across, the B&B Italia soft wall room divider, wins the award for our tenth most popular post in 2011.

When you’re decorating a room, and changing an interior design scheme, you’ll typically find yourself collecting together a selection of different colour and pattern swatches of fabric, wallpaper, paint or carpet. Sometimes it can be hard to whittle them down and decide on one or two firm favourites to use and it seems sad to discard the others.
That’s one of the reasons why we like these Swatch Book curtains, as they pay homage to all the lovely swatch card colours and designs you collect during an interior design project!
Designed to look like the fabric remnants and markings from a designer’s notebook, the curtains feature vertically arranged swatches of colour and pattern, interspersed with scribbled notes about the type of fabrics each swatch is made from, the sizes and costs. They look effective when viewed from a distance, but are fascinating to look at close up, as you’ve got all the notes to read.
The Swatch Book curtains are made from a mix of cotton, linen, silk and polyester and finished with a contemporary tab top. They’re available in two drop lengths – 213cm or 244cm – and are priced from £128 from Anthropologie.

You don’t get much of a view of them in this image, but you can just catch a glimpse of how they could look when hanging in windows.

Various home decor products feature quotes, but it’s one of those things that’s best used in moderation – too many quotes all over the place can be overkill. But one of the ways in which quotes can be used successfully in home decoration is in creating a feature wall.
When the words ‘feature wall’ are mentioned, it can conjure up images of a wall that you’ve spent ages decorating to perfection. But when wall stickers are used, the hours spent labouring on getting it perfect are vastly reduced.
To get a quote on a wall no longer requires a super steady hand and good handwriting to painstakingly paint every letter on – ready made wall stickers do the wording job for you. All you have to do, is choose an appropriate wall space and apply the stickers.
Whether you want to create a quote feature wall in your living room, bedroom, hall, study, kitchen or another room of your home, then here are 15 ideas to inspire you.
