It’s no secret that we’re constantly lusting after a Kitchen Aid Artisan mixer!
It’s a brilliant and powerful kitchen machine, hands free mixing is so convenient and the style and design of the mixer is very appealing.
Sadly this kitchen essential doesn’t come cheap – it’s definitely an investment piece – so we’re always on the lookout for special offers. Luck is on our side this week, as Selfridges have a whole host of Kitchen Aid Artisan mixers in their summer sale!
There’s a rainbow of colours available, including electric blue, blue willow, silver cocoa, ice blue, tangerine orange, majestic yellow, cranberry pink and boysenberry purple.

Reduced price pan set
It’s worth keeping an eye out for summer sale bargains – in the final clearance at Debenhams, there’s up to 70% off homeware and some good reductions on quality brands.
We spotted this Raymond Blanc by Analon hard anodised professional four piece pan set which has a saving of £120 off the original price.
The set includes a 16cm saucepan, 18cm saucepan, 20cm saucepan and 24cm skillet and has 15 positive reviews on the site. If you’re looking to invest in quality cookware which, in theory, should last longer, than it’s a benefit to do so when it’s reduced in price.
The saucepan set was £200, but is now only £80.

Poachpod - egg poaching aid
Cooking poached eggs is one of those things that doesn’t always go to plan. If you use the ‘throw the egg into boiling water’ method, sometimes it poaches in a nice organised fashion, and other times you end up with lots of stringy bits of egg white and an odd shaped poached egg.
Poached egg rings – a bit like a round pastry cutter – are widely available to pop the egg in and make them nicely round, but another option are these Poachpods.
Made from flexible silicone, the Poachpods are designed to hold the egg for you, whilst floating in boiling water and poaching.
The inside needs to be lightly oiled in order to help you release the egg in one piece at the end, but if reviews are to be believed, they poach eggs well and and do away with the odd shaped and stringy poached egg dilemma.
Poachpods are available to purchase from various retailers, with prices differing slightly. Amazon have two green Poachpods available for £4.60, Sainsbury’s sell Poach Pods for £5.00 and Lakeland have green or yellow Poachpods for £4.99.
Have you tried Poachpods and have they revolutionised your egg poaching method?

There’s still time to catch a bargain buy at Habitat, where the sale ends on Sunday.
Amongst the bargains we spotted is this Aven ceramic flan dish, measuring 27cm in diameter.
The fluted edge dish is decorated inside with an apple and pear and around the outside of the dish is a jaunty blue ribbon-like pattern.
The Aven white ceramic flan dish was £15, but is now only £8.40 in the sale at Habitat.
Other good buys include a lidded wok with 7 piece accessory set for £16.80, a 12 cup rumbaba silicone cupcake tray for £1.92 and the Cleo black wood CD storage unit for £83.20.

In an ideal world, I’d love one of these for Christmas. Although I have a trusty old hand-me-down mixer that does incredibly well, sometimes it would be nice not to have to hold it the entire time and let a gadget do the work for me!
The KitchenAid mixer is not only a desirable kitchen gadget, but also a very practical one too. The construction is very solid, with each mixer having a powerful 10 speed motor, and it comes with a wire whisk, flat beater and dough hook, ensuring you can use for multiple mixing needs.
Sadly, the KitchenAid artisan stand mixer does come at a bit of a price – the black one is currently priced at £359.10 and the cranberry one at £389, both from John Lewis (other colours are available too, including blue and cream).
However, there is an extra added bonus offer at the moment, for a free glass bowl worth £57, plus the mixer comes with its usual five year guarantee.

Make whoopie pies
One of the latest baking crazes to hit the UK is that of the whoopie pie. Not nearly so elegant as the cupcake, the whoopie pie is a mini American-style sponge cake that is sandwiched together with a buttercream filling and often iced or decorated with frosting on top too.
If you’re keen to unleash your baking abilities and have a go at making your own whoopie pies, then here’s a tin that will make your job much easier. The whoopie pie cake tin is the perfect size to make a whoopie pie – it conducts heat evenly, so your cakes will remain light and moist and won’t dry out – and it has room to make 12 whoopie pies in one bake off.
The whoopie pie cake tin is £7.99 from De Cuisine and they provide a recipe too, to help you get straight into cooking. For more whoopie pie cooking ideas and inspiration, you may like to check out the Whoopie Pies book.

Barbecue in style
This has got to be one of the most comprehensive barbecues we’ve seen for a while. If you’re looking to barbecue in style, then this Landmann five burner BBQ kitchen can ensure you do just that.
This comprehensive piece of cooking equipment comes with five stainless steel burners, a side burner, an infrared back burner, four chrome enamalled cooking grids and an electronic rotisserie. There’s a handy warming rack to keep food warm once its cooked and there are useful cabinets to store all your barbecue cooking equipment.
The barbecue kitchen is on castors, so it can be easily moved around outside on your patio or deck, but they have a locking feature, so it can be securely positioned for cooking.
As you’d expect, a barbecue of this size does come at a price, but that price is wonderfully reduced in the Debenhams sale. The Landmann Avalon BBQ kitchen was £2,289, but is now down to £1,439.10. It could be a great investment for die hard barbecue and outdoor dining fans.
