 Metal tube chair Designer Osian Batyka-Williams makes amazing contemporary furniture made from recycled materials.
This chunky tube chair is made entirely from reclaimed metal tubes, all of which were sourced from within five miles of his London Bridge studio.
Also made from metal tubes, but with addition of wood, is Osain’s other design of tube chair that we featured previously. Another favourite design is the super novel chair made of reclaimed cutlery.

 Kartell Pop outdoor chair One of the top brands of contemporary designer chairs, Kartell is a name synonymous with quality.
For many people, buying a Kartell chair is an investment decision. This Pop outdoor armchair by Piero Lisso, for example, would normally set you back just over £1,000 from many retailers.
If there’s a brand you really like, it’s always worth looking out for a bargain or money-saving opportunity, where you could snap up your desired piece of furniture for a snip of the price.

 Zingy red arm chair We’re loving the colour and design of this Sofapop Calton armchair.
The chair is a great size and shape and it’s given a brilliant zing by the bright red patterned cover.
If you’re not usually into florals, then this is a good option, as it’s not too ‘in your face’ floral. They say the fabric features, ‘white silhouettes of branches and flowers,’ but it reminds us of delicate blooms of cow parsley.
One big bonus is that the fabric cover can be removed, so if you get fed up with the red and white design, you can change it for something else.

If you’re after a contemporary styled sofa and chair for your home, then we’d recommend a look at the Sullivan snuggler and chair range from John Lewis.
We first came across the Sullivan snuggler sofa last year, when it was available in a rather funky stripe fabric. Now the furniture is back in stock, this time in a great range of plain coloured fabrics.
There’s nothing plain about the colours though – there’s a palette of 11 shades to choose from, including a bright pink, cheery yellow, teal blue and red.
Both the Sullivan sofa and chair are nicely designed and styled, with neat rounded arms and and dainty maple wood feet.
The Sullivan chair retails at £399 and the Sullivan Snuggler is £599.

Did you know it’s Fairtrade Fortnight?
 Semarang fair trade chair The event is currently in full swing and helping raise awareness of fair trade issues, as well as the many products now available that meet the fairtrade criteria.
Amongst them are some great furniture ranges, including the Tsantai collection from Fair Trade Furniture.
The are six different furniture ranges within the Tsantai collection, including some lovely contemporary styles. We’ve tried out some of the furniture this week and particularly love the quirky style of the Semarang chair, which features an unusual asymmetrical design and is wonderfully comfortable.
The asymmetrical chair design, by Tord Kjellstrom, makes it ideal for curling up in – the high side provides the perfect corner to nestle into or curl up in to read a book. The chairs are available with a right or left high side, so you can pair them up well, plus there’s a matching sofa and other pieces available to complete the look.
The chair frame is made from Indonesian Mindi wood, with panels woven in seagrass, and the cushion covers are all made from fairly traded fabrics. There’s a great choice of fabrics and colours available, from rich ruby and azalea pink, to neutral almond and black grape.
The Semarang chair is available to purchase from the Fair Trade Furniture Company, who currently have up to 20% off all their furniture ranges.

 Modern Tequila chair This modern black and white Tequila lounge chair is a comfortable, sleek and stylish seat.
Made out of gloss-coated thermoplastic, the outside of the chair is finished in a shiny white, which contrasts perfectly with the black faux-leather of the inside of the chair seat.

If you love unique, handmade furniture and appreciate pieces that are made from reclaimed materials, then this contemporary tube chair may well appeal.
The tube chair is designed and created by Osian Batyka-Williams, the same designer behind the novel cutlery chair that we featured previously, and is handmade from reclaimed materials.
The majority of the chair is constructed from reclaimed stainless steel tubes, which are sourced from reclamation yards within five miles of the makers studio. The wooden inserts, that are used to fill the inside of the tubes, are also all sourced from reclaimed materials and the wood element of these varies from chair to chair, depending on what type of wood is available at the time of making.
The metal and wood tube chair is available to purchase from Osian’s store on Bouf.
