 Retro grey chair
If you like all things retro, then you’ll like this grey circles chair from Dwell.
It’s classed as a dining chair, but to us it looks a bit big and bulky for sitting down in for a formal meal. It would be much better to relax in, or perch in at a breakfast bar.
The height of the chair is adjustable and it’s finished in chrome and a faux leather material.
Find out more, or buy the retro grey circles chair, at Dwell.

Bring your favourite comic heroes into your home, in the form of these unusual comic decoupage chairs.
Handmade from reclaimed vintage 1950s chairs, the chairs have been re-designed and given a completely new look, with the help of comic decoupage.
If you’ve got a favourite comic, then you can pick which one you’d like adorning the chair - the blue one above, for example, features Superman. You also get to choose the colour of the seat pad.
If comics aren’t your cup of tea, there’s also the option to have a chair covered in the pages of a favourite magazine, map or even a newspaper.
These unique chairs are created by Bombus and are available to order through Not On The High Street.

 Statement cushion
Osborne & Little are well known for their wallpaper and fabric design and have created this Prima Donna cushion for part of Heal’s ReDiscovers range.
Using traditional floral designs, the cushion is given a modern feel with its black and fluorescent pink roses and silver background. If you like the design and fancy more than just the cushion, there are a whole load of other matching items available, including a lampshade, rug, armchair and drum pouffe.
Personally, we feel that one or two pieces is enough to make a statement, as too much can be a bit overpowering, but each to their own.
The cushion is available from Heal’s, who are celebrating their 200th year anniversary in 2010, so look out for special offers in store and online throughout the year.

 Gorgeous sari cushions
We’ve all for mixing design ideas and themes, and antique and vintage pieces can successfully work alongside modern and contemporary. Take these antique sari seat pads from Myakka, for example.
We’ve fallen in love with the fabric and colours - wonderful embroidery, rich colours, unusual designs, gold detailing and a rainbow of colours - and love the fact that each cushion is finished off with beaded tassels in the corners.
They’re designed to be seat pads - used for sitting on - but if you think they’re a bit too nice to be squashed, you could easily use them as cushions for decorative purposes. A pale or neutral coloured sofa would look great with a few of these dotted around on it.
Each seat pad is unique, with no two being exactly the same, so you can’t guarantee exactly what colour or design you’ll get. As far as we’re concerned, that just adds to the uniqueness.
The antique sari seat pads are sold individually for £14.95 each or as a set of four for £55, from Myakka.

Cuddle up on the love seat
We’ve featured loveseats suitable for the conservatory or garden before (like the Orbit loveseat from Conran), but here’s one that’s perfect for cuddling up on indoors too.
This wide Ankara loveseat is perfectly designed to fit two people comfortably, with plenty of spare space, and is a nice solid piece of furniture.
It’s available in various neutral colours, including light oatmeal, which will fit in well with many colour schemes.
The loveseat is available from Dwell and sells for £449.

This rather unusual and award-winning chair is designed by Stefan Heiliger and, due to its shape, is aptly called the Question Mark chair.
Made from steel and foam, the chair consists of one sweeping curve, which wraps itself around to form a comfortable seat. The chair is upholstered in a choice of leather or fabric, in a variety of colours, and the base has a 360 degree swivel function.
It would be the perfect seat for contemplating decisions, or simply to relax and unwind in.
The Question Mark chair is custom made to order and is available from Within4Walls for £1527.

 Amoebe highback lounge chair
First created by Verner Panton in 1970 for the Visioner installation, the iconic Amoebe highback lounge chair is a wonderfully curved chair that continues to be a popular piece of contemporary furniture.
Made from a laminated structure topped with comfy foam upholstery, the Amoebe differs from many other chairs in that the seat lies very close to the floor, so it’s almost like you’re lounging around on the floor rather then sitting on a chair.
Another unique characteristic is that the flexible backrest curves up and over the top of the seat, creating a canopy effect. The theory behind it is that this, “creates a sense of shelter and seclusion,” especially so when used in open plan living environments. Whether that’s the case or not, it certainly helps give it a smooth flowing line and continuous curve, and the look that we’ll forever associate with the Amoebe.
If you want to try out the Amoebe highback lounge chair for yourself, then it’s available in eight colour choices - red, black, green, rust, truffle, steel, golden and matt blue - from Urbansuite.
