 Whale butter dish
How do you store your butter – in the fridge in its wrapper/tub, or in a butter dish?
If you’re a fan of the good old butter dish and are seeking an unusual contemporary storage option, then you can’t beat the whale design dish by Jonathan Adler.
The dish is made from white fired stoneware, with a matt white glaze, and it’s part of the playful collection of ceramic animals.
It’s a quirky design and unusual to find a whale used in this way, although we think it could be a bit too nice to use for butter.
Whether you’d put it into practical use, or simply put it out on display, the wonderful whale butter dish is available to buy from Amara.

This one is the ideal size for snacks or nibbles, but there are other sizes available too, including a large salad bowl.
The smile bowl is £24.95.

Lion sugar bowl and unicorn creamer
For quirky products that you’ll love using, you can’t beat designs by Takae Mizutani.
As a designer, Takae has a great way of looking at the world through the eyes of a child and this can certainly be seen in her unique designs.
In the case of this sugar bowl and creamer set, the sugar bowl is designed in the shape of a lion and the creamer is in the form of a unicorn. Both animal motifs feature on the British coat of arms, so it’s only right that they’re on products celebrating the great British tea drinking habit!
The set of two Tea Rules the World pieces are made in Cornwall from earthenware clay, cost £44 and come in a gift box, so would make a great present. The only choice you have to make is whether to opt for white or natural finish.

A great range of products with this design is available and, newly in stock at Not On The High Street, is her hanging people gravy boat. It comes complete with a jug for your gravy and a saucer to pop the jug on, and costs £40.

We seem to be seeing more foxes cropping up in homeware and interiors products recently, like the fox cushion we featured recently.
This time it’s a fox on ceramic, in the form of this cute looking fox and flower plate. It’s designed and hand decorated by Becky Baur in the classic shades of blue and white. The plate measures 21cm.
The fox and flower plate can be purchased for £20 from Hunkydory Home.

The close up photo of this wall art looks like dainty biscuits on a baking tray, but they’re actually porcelain buttons and not the slightest bit edible at all!
Created by Lauren Denney, this unusual piece of wall art looks effective in its monotone colours and features 24 handmade white porcelain buttons on a black background. The picture comes framed and ready to be hung on a wall.
You can buy the porcelain button wall art picture from Lauren Denney’s store; whilst there, it’s worth checking out her other handmade ceramic homeware creations too.

There’s still time to catch a bargain buy at Habitat, where the sale ends on Sunday.
Amongst the bargains we spotted is this Aven ceramic flan dish, measuring 27cm in diameter.
The fluted edge dish is decorated inside with an apple and pear and around the outside of the dish is a jaunty blue ribbon-like pattern.
The Aven white ceramic flan dish was £15, but is now only £8.40 in the sale at Habitat.
Other good buys include a lidded wok with 7 piece accessory set for £16.80, a 12 cup rumbaba silicone cupcake tray for £1.92 and the Cleo black wood CD storage unit for £83.20.
