 Fish design trivet
Trivets are really useful to have in your kitchen to pop hot pots and pans on, so the heat doesn’t run your kitchen surfaces.
As well as being practical, this shiny mirror polished steel Pescher trivet from Alessi is gorgeously stylish.
Designed by Donato D’Urbino and Paolo Lomazzi, the trivet features a selection of small and large fish lying side by side. The trivet is a good size, but can also be extended to accommodate larger pots or dishes.
If there’s not enough to love about it already, even better is the news that it’s reduced. Originally priced at £43, you can save a chunky 42% off the price of the Alessi Pescher trivet, as it’s now only £25 at Beth Stevens.
For more bargains and money saving buys for contemporary homes, check out the clearance section at Beth Stevens.

 Feed the birds
Have you been feeding the birds in this cold weather?
We’ve been glad to see that the blackbirds have successfully spotted lots of berries available in our garden to eat (during the first lot of snow, we put extra food out, but they didn’t find it). We also have some bird seed out too, for smaller birds, but the plastic holder it’s in has not fared well with strong winds in the past and a lot of the seed just falls out.
There are some much stronger bird feeders available though, including this Eva solo bird feeder which is designed to withstand wind, weather and beating wings!
The glass ball is made from mouth blown glass and can be suspended from trees, bushes or any other garden structures you have available, and it’s suitable for use on a balcony too. This feeder looks particularly good as you can use it for both nuts and seed – often the design of them means it’s an ‘either or’ choice – and it’s a nice contemporary design.
The Eva solo glass bird feeder is £39 from Beth Stevens.

 Stainless steel bowl and spoon
Serve olives in style, with this stainless steel olive bowl and matching spoon. Designed by Culinary Concepts, the 6″ bowl is lovely and shiny inside and comes ready to use with a spoon, with a trademark knot on the top of the handle.
Although it’s designed to be used for olives, the bowl and spoon set is the perfect size for serving a variety of nibbles or condiments in. As it comes gift boxed, it would be a perfect homeware gift to give as a present. Even when not in use, the bowl would make a stylish decorative accessory.
You’ll find the Culinary Concepts olive bowl and spoon set available from Beth Stevens, for £36.95.

 Crazy Daisy breakfast set
This bright and cheerful breakfast set is in the popular Crazy Daisy design, by Portmeirion.
The porcelain toast rack has multicoloured large daisy heads decorating each piece of the rack, and the egg cup is similarly decorated with an array of modern flowers.
The two piece breakfast set would make a nice gift, perhaps for a new home or for Easter, and it’s available from Beth Stevens.

What better excuse than Valentine’s Day for hunting down all these lovely heart shaped home products?
But they’re no means just for Valentine’s Day – in fact, these are much more longer lasting than a bunch of flowers or a box of chocolates.
We love the Amore range of heart shaped items, including the napkin rings and toast rack. The nickel plated toast rack will hold four slices of toast and even has a heart shaped handle at the top.
The napkin rings are made from stainless steel and come boxed as a set of four.
They’d be great gift at any time of year, and appropriate as a wedding gift too, or why not just treat yourself?
Both items are available from Beth Stevens, with the toast rack priced at £27.95 and the napkin rings at £25.95 (we’ve seen both elsewhere for £36.75 and £33, respectively, so this is quite a good deal).

 Swirly Union Jack
Jan Constantine is renowned for her Union Jack inspired textiles, but this cushion offers a different take on the traditional Union Jack.
Made from 100% wool, the cushion features a swirling Union Jack, in black, red and white, with a heart on the intersection of the stripes.
The back of the cushion is plain black. It’s a striking piece and ideal for anyone that likes the Union Jack style, but wants something a bit more unusual.
You can buy the swirly Union Jack cushion from Beth Stevens, for £67.

 Crazy Daisy cake slice
We love the Crazy Daisy range of ceramics and crockery by Portmeirion – they’re fresh, modern and funky.
There are a lot of lovely pieces in their range and a relatively new edition is this great cake slice.
The handle is decorated in the Crazy Daisy design and it comes in a presentation box, which also features the floral design.
It’s ideal for lovers of cake, but at £8.75, it would also make a great gift too. You can find it for sale at Beth Stevens.

 Contemporary black cake stand
If you’re looking for a contemporary cake stand, then how about this black one?
Much of the cake stand market seems to be dominated by clear glass cake stands, vintage china cake stands or stands in pale colours, so it makes a pleasant change to find a pure black one.
The cake stand is part of Nigella Lawson’s range (it is available in cream too) and it measures 23cm by 8.5cm. It’s the perfect size for a large sponge cake, or you could use it to display a selection of cupcakes.
The stand is available to purchase from Beth Stevens Ltd for £16.50.

When did butter dishes get so good? Forget plain, simple and boring, there are some lovely contemporary designs around now these days that will house your butter (or healthy spread) and look great on your table too.
We’re loving the butter dishes on offer at Beth Stevens, particularly this nicely designed black and white floral Cranesbill butter dish (£27.95), which would fit in well with monochrome styling.
The floral design is on the base of the butter dish, with a plain lid, although there’s a nice added touch with a tiny amount of pattern appearing on the top of the butter dish handle.
