If you’re in need of shade when sitting in your garden or on the beach – and with our current weather, shade has been much appreciated – then a parasol or sun umbrella is the perfect way of ensuring you’ve always got shade when you need it.
This big and bright garden parasol caught our eye at Heal’s. Made exclusively for Heal’s, it features panels of five bright colours - red, pink, blue, green and yellow – and is guaranteed to add a splash of colour to your patio or garden.
The fabric is made from Dralon, which is hard wearing and, apparently, resistant to dirt. The multi coloured parasol measures 200cm in diameter and currently has £25 off the usual price. Buy it from Heal’s.

Barbecue in style
This has got to be one of the most comprehensive barbecues we’ve seen for a while. If you’re looking to barbecue in style, then this Landmann five burner BBQ kitchen can ensure you do just that.
This comprehensive piece of cooking equipment comes with five stainless steel burners, a side burner, an infrared back burner, four chrome enamalled cooking grids and an electronic rotisserie. There’s a handy warming rack to keep food warm once its cooked and there are useful cabinets to store all your barbecue cooking equipment.
The barbecue kitchen is on castors, so it can be easily moved around outside on your patio or deck, but they have a locking feature, so it can be securely positioned for cooking.
As you’d expect, a barbecue of this size does come at a price, but that price is wonderfully reduced in the Debenhams sale. The Landmann Avalon BBQ kitchen was £2,289, but is now down to £1,439.10. It could be a great investment for die hard barbecue and outdoor dining fans.

Once a tyre, now a stool
At Fresh Design Blog, we do love good examples of recycling and this clever stool, which is made from recycled rubber tyres, is a prime example.
The patterns from the tyres work remarkably well on the cylindrical stool and the end result is a stylish design that’s also very hard wearing and durable.
The stool itself measures 50cm by 43cm and it’s suitable for use both inside your home and outside in the garden.
Get your recycled tyre rubber stool from The Urban Garden.

These tiffin carriers are great for carting around all your goodies for a picnic, but you can also use them at home to store cakes or biscuits in.
Made from hard wearing melamine, the carrier features four separate sections that are clamped together with a stainless steel band. Just flip back the clips and, voila, the case is opened.
The bottom three sections of the tiffin are 6cm deep, so there’s a good amount of space available. The top layer is 4cm deep and divided into three useful compartments.
The tiffin box is available from John Lewis in a choice of two colours – Brights, which is pink, green, red and blue, and Woodland, which features more subtle shades of blue and green.

Comfy, contemporary deckchairs
The sun may have temporarily gone in, but we’re still dreaming of sitting outside relaxing in the sun and these deck chairs are fit for the purpose.
Made from a light weight aluminium frame, which makes them easy to take in and out of the garden, the chairs have a great rocking ability. What impresses us most, though, is the comfortable built in head rest – perfect for lying back in comfort.
The rocking deck chairs are available in a choice of pink, white or blue and can be found at Graham and Green.

Luxurious outdoor furniture
There are some fabulous day beds available and, if I had the space available in my garden or a conservatory to accommodate it, I’d be buying one in a flash.
This espresso brown synthetic wicker day bed is on castors, so it can easily be rotated and moved around from sun to shade, or from indoors to outdoors. It comes with a comfy base cushion, but I’d add lots more cushions to it to create a comfy seat to relax on in the sun or read a book on.
One of the main benefits of day beds is their size – they’re perfect for sharing.
The Amadeus rotating daybed is available from John Lewis.

Kissing rabbit rug
If you told me before that I’d be marking our 500th post by writing about kissing rabbits, I wouldn’t have believed you.
But wonders never cease and we couldn’t resist writing about this fun picnic rug!
Produced by Anorak and featuring a kissing rabbit design, the lightweight cotton blanket has a nylon back, which makes it perfect for use outside. The rug folds up really well and, when done correctly, you end up with two handles at the top for easy carrying.
The red rabbit design is rather unusual and you can’t help but be charmed by it. The rug is available from Heal’s, who also have more great products in their outdoor range that will be perfect for using for summer picnics and other outdoor dining activities.

To help the postman, delivery people and visitors succesfully find where you live, a clear house sign or house number can really make a difference. But all too often, standard house numbers are a bit plain and boring.
We’re on the lookout for a new house number and spotted these fab contemporary handmade signs by Tillie Mint. The signs are hand cut from quality weatherproofed wood, then decorated with either a patterned background or patterned numbers.
There’s a choice of different designs available, including the modern, bright floral background, a funky floral design or a red cherry design, and with the bright colours, they’d really help your house stand out. Even the patterned numbers are nice too, as they add a bit of colour and interest, without being overpowering.
The house number signs measure 15cm by 15cm and can be purchased from Tillie Mint on Not On The High Street.
