Crystal and sterling silver bowl from Aspinal of London

Special crystal bowl
Special crystal bowl

I’ve previously only associated Aspinal of London with luxury leather goods, but did you know they sold other home items too?

Take this crystal decorative bowl, for example. It’s not any old average bowl, but is a special piece made from clear crystal glass with a sterling silver base.

It’s not cheap, but it is hand crafted and, for a special occasion, it would make a very nice home gift. Measuring 13.75″ in diameter, the bowl is the ideal size for a fruit bowl.

The crystal glass and sterling silver bowl is available from Aspinal of London.

Etched tea light holder

This lovely glass tea light holder, by Sagaform, is etched with a pretty stem pattern – not unlike Orla Kiely’s classic stem designs.

The holder is 15cm tall, so can comfortably hold a tall candle or a small tea light and it glows beautifully when lit.

Buy the Sagaform candle holder from Illustrated Living, for £12.95.

Don’t forget, you can still take advantage of our special 10% discount with Illustrated Living for all purchases made until 31st December 2009.

Fun and funky Bubbles mirror

Fun and funky Bubbles mirror

There are lots of great Italian modern furniture design companies and Calligaris is one of them.

The Bubbles mirror certainly lives up to its name, with several round pieces of mirror of different sizes arranged in random ‘bubble’ shapes.

The mirror is available in several finishes, including glossy white lacuqer, glossy black lacquer and wenge stained oak veneer. It looks great hung on its own, but equally good with two together.

You can buy the Calligaris Bubbles Mirror from Mac & Mac for £217.

UK mirror map

UK mirror map

Maps and globes often crop up in home decor and home accessories, but this is the first time we’ve come across a United Kingdom one in the form of a mirror.

This two piece mirror comes in the form of a realistic looking map of Great Britain and Ireland (Ireland being the second part of it).

If you want to have a map on your wall, but also happen to be in need of a mirror, then it’s the perfect solution. This version measures 60cm in diameter (a smaller 40cm one is available too) and costs £47.95 from Toys and Interiors.

Porcelain flour bag container

White porcelain flour bag container

White porcelain flour bag container

Everyday objects crafted out of surprising materials seem to be on the increase at the moment, like the glass plastic bag bowl we featured recently.

Our latest find in this vein is the porcelain flour bag container.

Yes, it looks like a plain opened flour bag, but it’s acually made of white porcelain.

You could use it put your actual bags of flour in, or use it as a storage container in the kitchen – it would look great with wooden spoons and kitchen utensils in.

If you’d like a porcelain flour bag container in your kitchen, then it’s available from Pedlars Webstore for £22.50.
