Culinery Concepts stainless steel bowl

Stainless steel bowl and spoon

Serve olives in style, with this stainless steel olive bowl and matching spoon. Designed by Culinary Concepts, the 6″ bowl is lovely and shiny inside and comes ready to use with a spoon, with a trademark knot on the top of the handle.

Although it’s designed to be used for olives, the bowl and spoon set is the perfect size for serving a variety of nibbles or condiments in. As it comes gift boxed, it would be a perfect homeware gift to give as a present. Even when not in use, the bowl would make a stylish decorative accessory.

You’ll find the Culinary Concepts olive bowl and spoon set available from Beth Stevens, for £36.95.

Warbeck and Cox beetle napkins

Wednesday, June 30th, 2010

beetle-design-napkins

Some of the napkins on the market can be a bit plain and boring, so if you’re looking for something different, how about these beetle design napkins?

Produced by Warbeck and Cox, the cotton napkins are available in a choice of black or emerald green colour print and feature a quirky beetle design. They’re designed and made in England, using ethically sourced materials, and are £17 for a set of four.

If beetles aren’t your cup of tea, then they also produce a really nice set of napkins with a key design too.

The napkins can be purchased online from Warbeck and Cox, but you can also look out for them from other retailers, including National Trust shops.

Avalon five burner barbecue kitchen sale item

Tuesday, June 22nd, 2010

Barbecue in style

Barbecue in style

This has got to be one of the most comprehensive barbecues we’ve seen for a while. If you’re looking to barbecue in style, then this Landmann five burner BBQ kitchen can ensure you do just that.

This comprehensive piece of cooking equipment comes with five stainless steel burners, a side burner, an infrared back burner, four chrome enamalled cooking grids and an electronic rotisserie. There’s a handy warming rack to keep food warm once its cooked and there are useful cabinets to store all your barbecue cooking equipment.

The barbecue kitchen is on castors, so it can be easily moved around outside on your patio or deck, but they have a locking feature, so it can be securely positioned for cooking.

As you’d expect, a barbecue of this size does come at a price, but that price is wonderfully reduced in the Debenhams sale. The Landmann Avalon BBQ kitchen was £2,289, but is now down to £1,439.10. It could be a great investment for die hard barbecue and outdoor dining fans.

These moulded red rabbit napkin rings by Johanna Zeitler from German design company, Koziol, add a bit of quirkiness to a dining table.

Artistically shaped in the form of a sitting rabbit, they sit perfectly on a table with a napkin in, with the rabbits head and ears poking up at the top. The design is called Hazel, which is rumoured to be named after Hazel the rabbit in Watership Down.

The rabbit napkin rings are available to purchase individually from Red Candy for only £4.15 each.

Daisy jug

Daisy jug

Having been to our first barbecue of the year at the weekend, we’ve got thoughts about eating outside, summer dining and picnics on the brain.

When you’re eating and drinking outside, you don’t always want to run the risk of accidental breakages, but there are some great outside-friendly homeware products on the market.

Acrylic has come a long way from its days of looking boring and drab and you can get some really funky looking items, like this daisy pitcher jug.

The clear acrylic jug is decorated with an array of colourful daisy flowers and it would be ideal for using outside or in. The daisy pitcher jug is available from Bhs, where it’s currently only £8. Matching acrylic wine glasses are also available, for the bargain price of only £2.40.

Blaue Blume ceramics by Tina Tsang

Monday, February 8th, 2010

blaue-blume-tea-cupjpg    blaue-blume-cake-stand2blaue-blume-teapot

If you thought tea sets were boring and old fashioned, think again.

Tina Tsang’s Blaue Blume white tea set ceramics, with their lace pattern textures, have been given a funky modern twist by using legs as handles.

From a tea cup and teapot with leg handles, to a cake stand with legs popping out of the top, Tina Tsang’s designs are nothing short of quirky and memorable.

Granted, they may not be too everyone’s taste, but they’re certainly a different take on traditional designs.

The teacup (£35), teapot (£65) and cake stand (£128) can be purchased from All Things Original. You can even choose whether you want the dainty feet to have red or black shiny shoes.

What do you think – do you love ‘em or hate ‘em?
