 Contemporary sculpture
I’ve always liked the idea of having a bay tree, but buying this instead would be one sure-fire way to ensure it never died.
This contemporary metal bay tree sculpture is made by New Delhi-based sculptor and designer, Alex Davis. The sculpture is created from high grade stainless steel, which has been polished to make it super shiny.
The bay tree measures 102cm in height and can be used inside your home, or outside in the garden. It’s a very striking piece and is available from John Lewis.

 Quirky sushi set
It’s not often you find cloud shape plates, but with Alessi, nothing is surprising.
This unusual sushi set, made from melamine and fine bone china, consists of one large cloud plate, a silk placemat decorated with birds, a small cloud shaped dish for soy sauce, a fine bone china chopstick holder and a pair of chopsticks made from melamine.
You can use it for its intended purpose of serving sushi, or simply serve up your favourite meal on a cloud-shaped plate.
The bird and cloud sushi set is available from GroovyTek and comes gift boxed.

 Iconic ball chair
We featured some glossy, single coloured ball chairs a few weeks ago, but now we’ve stumbled upon this one.
We rather like the colouring - pastel shades subtlely mixed together to create a swirling rainbow effect - and it would be nice if you prefer more pastel colours to the bright glossy ones.
The ball chair is made by Finn Stone from fibreglass, is suitable for use both indoors and out in the garden, and can be purchased from Bouf.

These fab, shiny ball chairs are designed by Finn Stone and are perfect for use indoors or outdoors.
They’re made from recycled ABS - an almost indestructible form of polypropylene - and are coated with UV-resistant gloss.
The ball chairs are suitable for use by both adults and children (from six years old) and are functional for use in many rooms of the house, as well as outside in the garden or on a patio. Although simply designed, their unsual shape and glossy finish provide a great design statement for a room.
The iconic ball chairs are available in a choice of 14 colours, including this bright blue, silver, orange and apple green, and are available exclusively from Bodie and Fou.

These three mugs are all part of the chinaware collection from designer, Sophie Allport.
They come from the New Sequence range of mugs and each features a themed design with small images in a sequence. There’s a whole host of designs to choose from, but we rather like these three - The Good Life, Home Grown and Lay A Little Egg for Me!
Each of the mugs costs £8.50 and you can find them on Sophie Allport’s website.

 Statement cushion
Osborne & Little are well known for their wallpaper and fabric design and have created this Prima Donna cushion for part of Heal’s ReDiscovers range.
Using traditional floral designs, the cushion is given a modern feel with its black and fluorescent pink roses and silver background. If you like the design and fancy more than just the cushion, there are a whole load of other matching items available, including a lampshade, rug, armchair and drum pouffe.
Personally, we feel that one or two pieces is enough to make a statement, as too much can be a bit overpowering, but each to their own.
The cushion is available from Heal’s, who are celebrating their 200th year anniversary in 2010, so look out for special offers in store and online throughout the year.

 Lipstick marks included
Never worry about leaving a lipstick mark behind on a cup anymore, as this clever designer has playfully incorporated them into her work!
British/Japanese designer, Reiko Kaneko, who trained at Central Saint Martins in London, has created these fun Lip Tease cups and saucers. Made from fine bone china, the cups have a 24 carat gold rim with a distinctive gold lipstick mark on them.
Liberty are selling the Lip Tease cup and saucer for £25.95.

We’ve featured the fabulous Dandelion Clocks wallpaper by Sanderson previously on the blog, in the blue, green and grey colour scheme.
If you’re a fan of the 50s retro design, then you may want to head over to John Lewis, as a whole new range of gorgeous matching homeware products are now available in the same Dandelion Clocks design.
They’ve got a choice of two colourways - the blue, green and grey, which they’ll calling Chaffinch, and a purpley-pink, green and grey, which they call Blackcurrant.
Some of the items in the range include porcelain Dandelion Clocks dinner plates (£8), bone china mugs (£6), Dandelion Clocks cushions (£30) and even a fantastic large Dandelion Clocks rug.
Many of the items are available in a choice of colour and they’re the ideal accompaniment to the wallpaper.

If you thought tea sets were boring and old fashioned, think again.
Tina Tsang’s Blaue Blume white tea set ceramics, with their lace pattern textures, have been given a funky modern twist by using legs as handles.
From a tea cup and teapot with leg handles, to a cake stand with legs popping out of the top, Tina Tsang’s designs are nothing short of quirky and memorable.
Granted, they may not be too everyone’s taste, but they’re certainly a different take on traditional designs.
The teacup (£35), teapot (£65) and cake stand (£128) can be purchased from All Things Original. You can even choose whether you want the dainty feet to have red or black shiny shoes.
What do you think - do you love ‘em or hate ‘em?

 Heart casserole
Le Creuset are renowned for making high quality, long lasting kitchenware and this gorgeous red heart shaped casserole dish is no exception.
Made from cast iron, and in shades of cerise, the casserole dish is shaped like a heart and comes with a lid. It can hold up to 1.9 litres.
As well as cooking up delicious casseroles and stews in it, you can also use the dish for making soups, stock, rice dishes and even for baking cakes.
The dish is made from cast iron, so it is quite heavy (2.7kg), but it’s hardwearing and long-lasting and can be used on the hob, in the oven or under the grill.
Head over to Amazon to buy your heart casserole dish.
If you think the cast iron is too heavy for you, then a lighter stoneware version is available too.
