Red kitsch vinyl wall sticker cuckoo clock

The wall sticker that's also a clock...

Wall stickers are not only great forms of wall decoration, but they can be functional forms of art too.

In a similar vein to the Big Ben wall sticker clock, here we have a rather kitsch red vinyl wall sticker decal that also doubles up as a functional, working clock.

The wall sticker can be easily applied to an appropriate area of your wall and comes with the clock face that can be positioned on top. The clock sticker is designed in a style reminiscent of traditional cuckoo clocks, but without the annoying bird.

To get your hands on a kitsch vinyl wall sticker clock, head over to the I Love Retro store on Bouf, where they’re priced at £27.95.

Unusual Aspiral motion wall clock

Learn to tell the time again

Learn to tell the time again

This revolutionary new Aspiral clock uses a clever spiral motion to tell the time. The red ball marks out the time throughout the day then, when it reaches the centre of the clock, it drops down into the hole, then appears out of the opening at the bottom, where it originally started off.

It’s an unusual design and a big interior talking point. If you’re looking for an unusual design piece with a functional purpose, and don’t mind having to re-learn to tell the time (it takes a bit of getting used to!), then the Aspiral clock could be the timepiece for you.

Pop over to Heal’s to find out more information and to get your Aspiral clock original.

Karlsson Flower Field glass clock

Tuesday, March 2nd, 2010

karlsson-flower-field-black-clock    karlsson-flower-field-colour-clock

Modern clocks have become so much more than simply timepieces, as these two glass clocks from Karlsson demonstrate.

The flower field glass clocks are decorated with an array of contemporary floral designs, making them an eye-catching piece of art.

It’s amazing how different the design becomes by adding colour, but we think we do ultimately prefer the monotone black and white version.

You can find the Karlsson black flower field clock and the multicoloured flower field clock for sale at Dot Maison.

Designer bouquet clock from Hunkydory Home

Wednesday, January 13th, 2010

bouquet-clock-black    bouquet-clock-pink

Tell the time in style, with the help of these stunning designer bouquet clocks.

Designed by Nadia Sheltawy, the clocks are cleverly laser cut from acrylic perspex and have the shape of leaves, flowers and buds around the outside of the clock (all the things you’d find in a bouquet of flowers).

We love the black clock, which would look great hung on a neutral wall, but for a splash of colour, it’s also available in hot pink.

Both clocks are sold by Hunkydory Home for £44.99 each.

Big Ben clock wall sticker

Fancy Big Ben on your wall?

Let Big Ben strike on your wall

We’ve featured lots of wall stickers before, but this one goes one step further.

Designed in the famous shape of Big Ben, this giant wall sticker provides more than just a decorative form of wall art – it’s a working clock, too.

The elaborate sticker comes with a working clock face with quartz movement, with black metal hands, and operates on one AA battery.

If you’ve not got room for a full-size grandfather clock, but have got a suitable area of wall free (you’ll need 295mm x 2000mm), then this could be the perfect solution.

You can buy your very own Big Ben at Funky Little Darlings, for £120.

  karlsson_book_table_clock_in_blackkarlsson_book_table_clock_in_colour

There’s no end to the variety of quirky clocks available these days, including these unusual clocks made from books.

Available in a choice of classic black and white (which we’re rather partial too) or colourful primary colours, the clocks would be ideal for perching on a shelf, table or even on a bookcase.

Both of these clocks are available from Harley’s Interiors for £19.99 each.

DIY passe partout Karlsson wall clock

Friday, October 2nd, 2009

diy-frame-clock     diy-frame-clock2

There are a lot of these types of clocks around at the moment and they’re great for a contemporary home. This one is a bit different though, as it’s designed so you can fill the frames with whatever you want (pictures, children’s drawings, keepsakes, scraps of wallpaper, postcards etc) and you can move the frames around to whatever position you want them in.

In essence, it’s a fully customisable clock.

It’s a great idea, especially if you’re happy to be creative and crafty. It would make a good present too – you could fill all the frames with wedding photos as a gift for a newly wed couple, put pictures of friends and fun times in it for students starting a new chapter of their life, or pop children’s photos and drawings in the frames as a gift for grandparents.

And if in time you decide you want another look, you can simply change the contents of the 12 frames and start again.

You can buy the diy passe partout Karlsson wall clock from Soulful Toaster for £44.99. It has sold out at the moment, but they’ve got more stock coming soon and, if you’re interested, you can let them now in advance.

If you love modern, creative design, then this eye-catching clock is the ideal piece to own.

It’s available from Rockett St George for £115 and, although it’s currently out of stock, you can email Lucy (lucy@rockettstgeorge.co.uk) to  be added to the waiting list and be notified when it’s back in stock.

Unusual art cuckoo clocks

Unusual art cuckoo clock

Unusual art cuckoo clock

After we featured the funky striped cuckoo clock previously, Dolf from North Coast Imports alerted us to their clocks.

It’s taken us a while to browse through them, as they have loads and there are some really unusual designs. If you like the idea of a traditional cuckoo clock, but want a more modern design, then there may well be something that takes your fancy amongst their ART Clocks range.

Designed and produced by artists based in Germany’s Black Forest, each of the ART clocks is a one-of-a-kind piece and is signed by the artist.

The cuckoo element isn’t too overpowering – the clocks have a small and inobtrusive door at the top where the cuckoo appears to announce the chiming of hours of half hours.

To find out more about the clocks available, have a look at the North Coast Imports website.
