 Unique hanging decorations
For something different to hang on your Christmas tree this year, how about these vintage chocolate mould decorations?
You wouldn’t know it to first look at them, but they’ve been upcycled from redundant chocolate moulds and made into unusual hanging decorations. The decorative shapes of the moulds suit the purpose well and it’s a very clever idea.
A mixed bag of five of these unusual decorations is available from Patchwork Harmony for £6.95.

 Alternative tree
Here’s another contemporary alternative Christmas tree idea - and certainly one that would last year after year.
It’s designed and made from driftwood by Karen Miller, at Devon Driftwood Designs, and the tree is available in various sizes - 2ft, 3ft, 4ft and 5ft.
Here it’s seen decorated with shells, but we think it would look jolly nice decorated with colourful Christmas decorations, like baubles and sparkly lights.
For more details about the rather unique driftwood Christmas trees, see Not On The High Street.

 Leaping reindeer
Nice Christmas tree decorations don’t have to cost a fortune. This gold leaping reindeer decoration - which is one of a set of two - was originally £2.50 from Cargo, but has been reduced down to only £2.
Even if it’s the only new decorations you buy this year, one pound per piece isn’t going to break the bank.
Red reindeers are also available.

 Dainty sparkly lights
Aren’t these little sparkly crystal lights sweet? They’re designed to be used outside, along your path, to help you find your way to your front door in the dark.
Although seasonally shaped like frosted Christmas trees, you could use them for longer than the Christmas period.
There are 15 little crystal lights on each tree and you get four in a pack, for £25 from Next.

 From table to tree
When you’re entertaining and setting a table for special occasions, it’s always nice to add finishing touches, like place names so people know where to sit.
These colourful baubles are designed to serve just that purpose and would be a lovely festive touch to add to your table.
The baubles come in a set of six, with the colours red, green, purple, gold, orange and dark red, and cost £16 from Not On The High Street.
What’s even better is, when you’ve finished with them as place name holders, all you need to do is find some ribbon to thread through the loops at the top, and they can be hung from your tree as decorations.

These aren’t just your average Christmas tree baubles. If you’re looking for something a bit different, then how about celebrating some iconic London landmarks and characters, with the help of these two Little London Christmas bauble sets?
Each of the baubles has been blown by mouth from glass and is hand decorated. They measure about 5cm by 4cm and come presented in a wooden box.
Available from Bombki on Not On The High Street, the first Little London bauble set has a London bus, telephone box, London taxi, London soldier and a little Big Ben.
The Little London 2 set includes a policeman, London Eye, post box, tube train and Canary Wharf (this one is our favourite). They’re not cheap at £30 per set, but they are quirky and unusual.
Bombki’s designs, which are overseen by Michael Peterson, have been picked up by Sir Paul Smith, Liberty, Fortnum and Mason and even Saint Paul’s Cathedral.
As well as London, they also produce many more distinctive iconic baubles, including Little New York and Little Paris.

 Novel invitations
If you’re hosting a Christmas drinks party at home, then these are a rather fun form of invitation to send.
Produced in the form of coasters, the design has the wording Christmas Drinks on one side, followed by an invitation to fill in with the details on the reverse side.
They’re made from genuine coaster stock, so feel like the weight of a usual coaster, come with envelopes and are supplied in a perspex box.
There are eight coasters per set, costing £4, and they’ve available to buy from Not On The High Street.
They also do some mulled wine and mince pie invite coasters and Christmas party invite coasters, which are also £4 per set.

Have you ever wished you could put your Christmas tree upside now? Erm, me neither.
Clearly somebody has though, as John Lewis are selling a couple of reversible upside down Christmas trees this year, including this modern black one.
It’s a novel idea and the tree can either sit upside down in the stand that’s supplied with it, or be put up in the usual way.
The black upside down tree is £80, but they also do a green one for £73.
Would you buy and use the upside down Christmas tree?

Turn the key - and open the walnut
Cracking open the shells of nuts is something I always associate with Christmas, but I’ve recently discovered that our nutcrackers have mysteriously broken.
Walnuts are often tricky to open with conventional nutcrackers, due to their bulky size, soI love the idea of this walnut key.
The key is designed to cleverly slot into the groove on the top of the walnut shell and allows you to ‘unlock’ and open it up. It looks easy to use and less cumbersome then traditional nutcrackers.
The walnut key is available from Cox and Cox for £6.
