Conran glove chair
If you’re going to spend a sizeable sum on a piece of designer furniture, that you want to last long into the future, then it’s beneficial if you can also customise your purchase to meet your needs.
The glove chair by Conran is a classic example of an occasional chair that is both stylish and practical. Designed by Terrence Conran, the chair is made from a moulded fibreglass shell which is upholstered on the front. It sits on a spun steel base and has swivel and tilt mechanisms for the ultimate in comfort.
Whilst many stores sell the glove chair in standard finishes, at Darlings for Chelsea, you can customise your glove chair purchase a bit more by choosing from a wide range of fabric choices. There are patterned and plain fabrics in a rainbow of colours, but bespoke options are also available if you can’t quite find your perfect fabric.

We seem to be seeing more foxes cropping up in homeware and interiors products recently, like the fox cushion we featured recently.
This time it’s a fox on ceramic, in the form of this cute looking fox and flower plate. It’s designed and hand decorated by Becky Baur in the classic shades of blue and white. The plate measures 21cm.
The fox and flower plate can be purchased for £20 from Hunkydory Home.
You can see more of Becky Baur’s designs on her website.

There’s a new fan on the block – a Dyson Hot™ AM04 fan heater, to be precise.
Sleek, stylish and contemporary, the Dyson Hot™ fan heater bears little resemblance to traditional home fan heaters. But not only does it look different, it works differently too.
The heater uses Dyson’s patented Air Multiplier™ technology, which draws in air and helps project the heat further. The oscillation device smoothly distributes warm air to the whole of the room.
From a safety point of view, there are no visible heating elements and the fan is designed to automatically cut out if it’s knocked over. It’s easy to clean, as there are no blades, and can be simply wiped with a cloth.
You should also be free of those horrible burning smells that fan heaters tend to acquire when dust gets inside them, as this one is designed not to do that!
The fan heater is easily controlled with a remote control and you can set it to the exact temperature you require.
If your home is in need of a Dyson Hot™ AM04 fan heater, then it’s available exclusively from John Lewis, priced at £269. It’s comes with a parts and labour guarantee for two years.

Birch wood tree
We realise it’s way too early to mention the ‘C’ word, but couldn’t resist a quick preview of these fabulous birch plywood Christmas trees from Nordic Design Forum.
Spotted at Top Drawer 2011, the trees are designed by Anne Paso and handmade in Scandinavia from birch plywood. The trees are available in several sizes and come flat packed – instructions are included to help you put the tree together. You can then pack them away neatly once the festive season is over.
It’s a nice alternative to a traditional Christmas tree and can be decorated as you wish.
The big birch plywood tree costs £395, the medium wooden tree is £115 and the small birch tree is £55.
The same concept is available in a slightly different, more rounded, tree too, which is equally nice and could during other times of the year.

When you’re decorating a room, and changing an interior design scheme, you’ll typically find yourself collecting together a selection of different colour and pattern swatches of fabric, wallpaper, paint or carpet. Sometimes it can be hard to whittle them down and decide on one or two firm favourites to use and it seems sad to discard the others.
That’s one of the reasons why we like these Swatch Book curtains, as they pay homage to all the lovely swatch card colours and designs you collect during an interior design project!
Designed to look like the fabric remnants and markings from a designer’s notebook, the curtains feature vertically arranged swatches of colour and pattern, interspersed with scribbled notes about the type of fabrics each swatch is made from, the sizes and costs. They look effective when viewed from a distance, but are fascinating to look at close up, as you’ve got all the notes to read.
The Swatch Book curtains are made from a mix of cotton, linen, silk and polyester and finished with a contemporary tab top. They’re available in two drop lengths – 213cm or 244cm – and are priced from £128 from Anthropologie.
You don’t get much of a view of them in this image, but you can just catch a glimpse of how they could look when hanging in windows.

Here’s a quirky and novel alternative to standard hooks, created by designer Kirsty Whyte.
The Limpet hooks are mollusc shaped and are pieces of wall art in their own right – you wouldn’t necessarily know they’re a coat hook if there was nothing hanging from one.
The colourful hooks, which come in a set of six in red, turquoise and warm grey, are moulded from plastic and can hold weights of up to 5kg.
These Limpet hooks are provided exclusively for Made.com and are priced at only £29 for six (the usual high street price would be £79). Snap them up while you can!
