Modern designer contemporary lamp

Distinctive design lamp

We love the design of this modern ribbon inspired metal table lamp – it’s bursting with fluid lines, interesting angles and a surface that reflects light wonderfully via its polished surfaces.

The lamp is made from coloured powder coated metal and the fluid, continuous design was developed using a single, continuous strip of paper as inspiration. The end result is highly effective and a great piece to add to any modern or contemporary room.

The white ribbon table lamp was £100, but is now reduced to £80 in the Habitat sale.

50% off Snowden Flood designer homeware products

Designer Battersea embroideryDesigner glassware by Snowden Flood

Snowden Flood produce some unusual homeware products, including ceramics, glassware and linens. Many items in their current collection are now half price in the January sale at Bouf. We’re particularly fond of these two pieces:

The colourful Battersea embroidery design ceramic plate, which is part of their Landmark series, features a design from a hand embroidery. Personally, this plate looks too nice to use – I’d much rather display it in my home. One 27cm plate was originally £35, but is now £17.50 in the sale.

The unusual black tree glasses are very striking. Each of the four glasses in the set features bold images of trees, with one each of oak, blossom, birch and fir. The glasses originally cost £39.95 per set, but are now only £19.98. The tree design glasses are also available in white, which produces a softer, snowy look.

Up to 70% off in the Graham and Green sale

Tuesday, December 28th, 2010

We somehow missed them off our list of the top 30 places to get online sale bargains, but the lovely Graham and Green is well worth a visit at the moment, as they have up to 70% off in their bumper online sale.

Some of the lovely things we spotted include:

Bargain French study office desk

Lovely desk

This gorgeous French style writing desk, which is painted in a beautiful sea green colour. It’s got lots of storage space and a good amount of room to pop a laptop or netbook on top, along with space to write in a notebook.

If I had room to house this in my home, I’d be buying it in a shot. The French writing desk is now £486.50 (was £695).

Designer one of a kind mirror drawers

Reflective drawers

The Manhattan mirrored chest of drawers is part of a contemporary range of furniture designed by Jamie Graham. The multi-angled mirrors are very unusual and, as well as looking good and providing three drawers of storage, the chest will also help add more light and interesting reflections in your room.

The Manhattan mirrored chest of drawers was originally £725, but is now reduced to £507.50 in the sale.

Faux snakeskin magazine holder basket

Chic magazine storage

It’s lovely to relax in the living room with magazines and newspapers, but they can so easily create an untidy mess when left on the floor or table. This stylish faux snakeskin cream magazine basket offers a chic way of keeping newspapers and magazines tidy and organised.

It’s finished off with an adjustable handle, making it easy to move around. The leather-look magazine rack was priced at £55, but is reduced to £38.50 in the sale.

Art deco style mirror placemat table mat

Mirror mats

These elliptical cut glass mirrored placemats have a floral detai in the centre and would add a touch of class to a table. They come packaged in a gift box so would make a nice present.

The mirror placemats are 25cm in size and are now priced at £9.75 (was £19.50).

This contemporary dark wood Warwick wardrobe, in a rich walnut stain, was £895 but is now reduced in the sale down to £535.

Contemporary red scarlet living room chair

Scarlet chair

This lovely scarlet red Magnet milano easy chair offers a modern take on the traditional tub chair design. A matching round red footstool is also available.

Both items are reduced in the sale at Heal’s, with the chair now £1525 (was £1795) and the footstool £485 (was £575).

Contemporary two seater fabric love seat sofa

Perfect for two

I love the style of these love seat sofas. This one is the contemporary Waltzer wok fabric love seat, which is the perfect seat for two people, or for one person to curl up on. The sofa is available in a choice of fabric colours, including grape (purple), green, brown, charcoal, soft grey and bone (beige).

The Waltzer loveseat wok sofa was originally priced at £1990, but is now reduced down to £995 in the sale at Heal’s.

Eva solo bird feeder from Beth Stevens

Bird feeder for the garden

Feed the birds

Have you been feeding the birds in this cold weather?

We’ve been glad to see that the blackbirds have successfully spotted lots of berries available in our garden to eat (during the first lot of snow, we put extra food out, but they didn’t find it). We also have some bird seed out too, for smaller birds, but the plastic holder it’s in has not fared well with strong winds in the past and a lot of the seed just falls out.

There are some much stronger bird feeders available though, including this Eva solo bird feeder which is designed to withstand wind, weather and beating wings!

The glass ball is made from mouth blown glass and can be suspended from trees, bushes or any other garden structures you have available, and it’s suitable for use on a balcony too. This feeder looks particularly good as you can use it for both nuts and seed – often the design of them means it’s an ‘either or’ choice – and it’s a nice contemporary design.

The Eva solo glass bird feeder is £39 from Beth Stevens.

There are also more table ideas over at Freshome, where they’ve put together some creative centrepieces.

Find out how you can make a Christmas wreath, from this post on Parentdish.

Make It and Mend It have a great step-by-step guide to making curlicue salt dough decorations for your Christmas tree.

And for some super easy decorations, how about this cute snowman idea from Frangipani Decor.

Christmas Food & Drink

The wonderful Chocolate Orange has become a big of a Christmas staple, but if you fancy being creative with yours, then there’s a great recipe on Domestic Sluttery for chocolate orange cookies.

You’ll find lots of great food ideas on Rosa’s Yummy Yums Christmas food ideas post.

For Christmas party drinks, Apartment Therapy have some lovely cocktail ideas.

If you fancy doing something different with potatoes over the Christmas holidays, then Hygge Nook suggests herby parmentier potatoes.

Quirky tree coaster set

Cute tree coasters

Aren’t these coasters a great idea? Shaped like trees, they come in a little wooden block where they stand up in a very tree-like way, when not in use.

The coasters are made in France from wood (totally apt) and are a good mix of both a practical and decorative item.

The set of four wooden tree coasters costs £19 from Leaf.

Decorated biscuit kitMake biscuits to hang on your Christmas treeChristmas tree shaped biscuits

If you love the idea of having special handmade biscuits hanging on your Christmas tree, or of giving them as gifts to other people, but are a bit pushed for time, then this kit is a real time-saver.

The biscuit making part is done for you, as the kit comes with ready made biscuits in the shape of Christmas trees and stars. The fun part of decorating the biscuits is down to you and you get everything you need to create stylish and creative decorated biscuits, including roll out icing, shape cutters, piping gel, a rolling pin, edible lustre dust, silver balls and brushes.

As the idea is to hang the decorated biscuits on a Christmas tree, you’re also supplied with small cellophane bags, red ribbon and elastic metallic thread.

This would be a great kit to do with children in the run-up to Christmas, and if 10 decorated biscuits isn’t enough for you, then the biscuit recipe is included in the set, so you can more yourself.

The Christmas tree hanging biscuit decorating kit is created and sold by Little Rose Bakery and costs £17.99. For more details, take a look at their website.
