There are a lot of lovely wallpaper designs available, but one of the patterns that continues to be popular is the Dandelion Clocks design by Sanderson.
Based on a classic 1950s retro design, the fun and funky wallpaper is available in a choice of colourways and works very effectively in many rooms of the home.

The Chaffinch blue – a light, teal blue, grey and green colourway – is perhaps one of the best known choices for this wallpaper, but the blackcurrant pink and natural shades, or the striking red and brown, look just as good.
The Dandelion Clocks wallpaper is available from a variety of retailers, including John Lewis, where the made to order wallpaper costs £33.
To complete the look, various matching dandelion clock print homewares are available too. Whilst I’m not keen on the idea of plastering an entire house in the Dandelion Clock print, there are plenty of items available to allow you to mix and match, using as much or as little as the print as you wish, in conjunction with coordinating paint colours, fabrics or furniture.
 Blackcurrant and natural lampshade
If you love the cheery blackcurrant and natural colourway, then Heal’s have an exclusive dandelion clock lampshade in stock.
The drum style lampshade is best suited for use with a lampbase – if you use it as a pendant style shade, then the design will be upside down!
Wallpaper Direct have all the colourways available in a Dandelion Clock print bath towel (£24) and the blue print in a Dandelion Clocks king size duvet (£85).

John Leiws have matching Dandelion Clock cushions available in the blackcurrant and blue colours, for £30 each.

 Mechanical themed bowl
This very unusual bowl was created by award-winning London-based designer, Haidée Drew.
It’s a fantastic representation of a cog and, if you had two or more of the bowls, I bet you couldn’t help but organise them on a table so that their sides fit together.
The cog bowls would be perfect to use as serving bowls for nibbles at a party, or simply as a centre piece in the middle of a table.
Made from white earthenware, and measuring 21cm in diamater, the cog bowls cost £29.50 each from Bouf.

 Ceramic cup
Sometimes it’s amazing how even the most simplest of designs can be so effective, or so popular.
That’s certainly the case with Rob Brandt’s ceramic expresso cup. Designed to look like a crumpled and squashed used coffee cup, the piece is actually made out of ceramic and will provide a long life of coffee needs.
Each white cup is handmade, so the creases and crumples will be unique to you. At only £4.90 from Made in Design, it’s a fabulous price for a really quirky design piece.
If you like this kind of design idea, you may also like the porcelain flour bag container or the porcelain carton milk jug that we’ve featured previously.

 Useful memo peg board
Memo boards are infinitely useful to have in your home, whether you pop them on the kitchen wall, in the hall or in a study or home office.
This bird cage design memo board is slightly different from some of the memo boards we’ve featured before, in that it uses pegs to attach items to it. Unlike memo boards involving pins, you won’t end up with a small hole punctured through your items.
In addition to using it for storing all the bits and pieces you need to remember, it’s shown here being used as a way of displaying Christmas cards, which is a really nice idea.
The bird cage memo board costs £45, comes with twelve pegs to get you started and is sold by Sage, inspired by Life on Not On The High Street.

 Melamine tray
You can never have enough trays in your kitchen as they’re useful for so many occasions.
Big trays that you can pile everything on are great, but it’s also useful to have some smaller ones handy for serving afternoon tea or popping a few cakes or biscuits on when you’re entertaining.
This fun and funky tray is described as a ‘dessert tray’ and measures 15 inches by 6 inches in size. It’s made of hard-wearing melamine and features a long white dachshund dog against a multi-coloured stripe background.
You’ll find the happy hot dog tray in stock at Hunkydory Home.

Last year, the snowy paper Christmas tree from John Lewis caused a bit of a storm of excitement. It sold out very quickly online and in store and you had to be quick if you wanted one in your home for Christmas.
The contemporary styled tree offers a more natural and simplistic alternative to the traditional style of Christmas tree, but still has plenty of room to hang decorations on its branches. The tree comes pre-lit, so it saves you the hassle of having to string it with lights and it’s ready to be decorated.
The good news is that the prelit snowy paper Christmas tree is back in stock at John Lewis this year. The four foot version costs £45 and a larger 6ft 6in version is £75 (stock for the latter is due in four weeks).
Nov 2011 update – Various snowy paper trees, including some pre-lit options, are back in stock at John Lewis!
