 Clever storage floor cushions
These fab storage floor cushions by Karmameju caught our eye, as they were recently featured by NestGoodies. They’re one of the most functional storage ideas we’ve seen in ages and a great idea.
The storage cushions are, as the name suggests, designed for storing things in and they’re perfect for spare duvets or pillows. Once the duvet or pillow is stuffed in, not only do you have a clever means of storage solution, but also a practical, comfy floor cushion you can put to good use in your home.
Made by Karmameju, the storage floor cushions are available in small (£42), which fits one single duvet and a pillow, or large (£52), which can store two single duvets or one double, plus two pillows.
The storage cushions can be purchased from Nordic Elements and are available in two colours, sand and black.

 Bali square counter top basin
Modern square basins can sometimes be a bit too angular and stark, but not this one.
This modern square counter top basin from Victoria Plumb has been designed with curved edges that help soften the cubed effect and create an elegant basin. It has a single mixer tap in the middle (although you can choose your own tap designs) and is designed to be mounted on the top of a counter or surface in a bathroom.
Amazingly, the Bali counter top basin from Victoria Plumb is priced at only £39, which seems very good value.
If you love unusual sinks, then why not also take a look at the stunning Brianna art glass vessel sink that we’ve previously featured.

Thanks to the joys of Twitter, we learnt that Homes and Gardens have published an article about garden design schools in the UK.
If you’ve ever wondered about learning to design your garden properly, or would like to get into designing gardens for other people, then a course could be just the ticket. In her article for Homes and Gardens, Sarah Warwick rounds up a selection of courses on offer around the UK, from short courses to long courses, certificated courses to diploma courses.
And if you’re not quite up to the idea of designing a garden yourself, it’s always possible that you could find a budding new designer via any of the garden design organisations mentioned!

It’s lovely to have hot, sunny days, but in order to make the most of your garden during the hot weather, a parasol is essential for providing some shade. Whether you’re sitting out relaxing, or dining alfresco, then here’s our pick of five of the best garden parasols.
1. Hardwood parasols are a long-term favourite and this Princess parasol, designed by Paul Reef Parasols, features a classic green woven polyester top with a hardwood pole.
The parasol top is coated with 3M Scotchguard and it has vents in the top too, to help prevent it taking off. In order to put the parasol up and down easily, there is a four-pulley corded system. The hardwood pole is nice and sturdy and is finished off with brass fittings.
 Lakeland hardwood Princess parasol
The Princess parasol is available from Amazon for £109 and it comes complete with a heavy duty zipped storage bag.
2. This is a very nifty freestanding garden parasol from John Lewis. The clever design means that you can easily position your chair or sun lounger underneath the parasol, rather than to the side of it, and you don’t have to have it positioned in the centre of a table either.
 Freestanding garden parasol
The only slight downside is that you do need to have four 45cm x 45cm paving slabs for the base. That aside, the John Lewis freestanding garden parasol in ecru is available for £119.20.
3. To add a bit of colour into your garden, how about this multi coloured stripe Zanzibar parasol?
 Stripe parasol
The base is made from eucalyptus wood, the shade has UV30 protection and is made from polyester.
The Zanzibar stripe parasol costs £99 from Marks and Spencer.
4. This large oriental tilting garden parasol, provides plenty of shade in a stylish way. Unlike some parasols, there’s as much of a design element in the underside of the parasol, which you get to see when sitting underneath it.
 Oriental garden parasol
The parasol frame is made from aluminium and the canopy from UV resistant polyester. The oriental tilting garden parasol costs £96.98 from Posh Garden Furniture on Bouf (plus, there’s free P&P to the UK!).
5. If you need more than just a parasol, then there are some well priced garden furniture sets available, which include a parasol. This Lattice six piece patio set from Asda is a good buy at £150.
 Red parasol and patio furniture
The cherry red garden parasol measures 200cm, plus you get four dining style chairs with red cushions and a table. The Lattice patio set is available to buy from Asda.

Boring or old looking tables can be seriously enlivened by throwing on a stylish table runner. Choose a colour that matches your room decor, that tones with your tableware or simply a new colour that you’d like to use as a decorative focal point in your room.
This lovely ornate gold table runner, called the Mozart table runner, is available from ServeWell. Measuring 33cm by 180cm, it’s a very elegant and classic design and its gentle gold shade will look good on many a modern table.
It’s also the type of table runner that could work well at Christmas too, if you’re using gold as part of your festive colour scheme.

 Blue and white spice drawer
Small decorative spice drawers have been around for a while. Most are a bit folksy and shabby chic, but this blue and white spice drawer from Cargo would fit in better with a contemporary or modern home.
It’s made from painted white wood and has eight decorative drawers, many of which almost look like they’re black and white rather than blue. Whilst mostly a piece to have for decorative or ornamental purposes, it also serves a partially practical purpose with its useable drawers.
The blue and white spice drawer is available from Cargo for £25.
