Philips are working hard to get OLED technology in our everyday lives. Their new concept is a simple wall created from OLED cells. The wall recognizes people as they get close to it and changes the shape and the image to display a mirror image of the person who’s standing before it. It’s all very clever. Denis Guidone designed a clock that may help you save some time, but the truth is that this clock literally stole time from you. There are no numbers on the object and, when the time reaches a certain point, it changes sides. The Ora ilLegale clock is a good looking gadget, but don’t bet on it that it will always help you save time.

Flower images are often found in a whole range of designs, but now Japanese designer, Shige Hasegawa, has created a rather funky flower inspired table.
The Hana Table is being exhibited during the 2009 Milan Furniture Fair. The flower design is based on traditional origami techniques (which usually involves folding paper, but in this instance it’s wood). Rather than having lots of screws and nails, the glass top is fixed to the base via the five plywood legs. This makes the table easy to assemble and perfect for flat-packing.
Wouldn’t it look great in your living room?

Gumdesign revealed their new lamp concepts recently at the Milan Design Festival. The front panel on this lamp is translucent and the LED lighting produces quite a wacky, futuristic effect. This one hangs from the wall, but they also have an upright standing version too. It would be great in a room where you’re trying to produce a modern look.

A PC user may remember what happens when Windows is slowing down, working hard and the whole machine gets stuck in the middle of your work: you press the CTRL-ALT-DEL combination on the keyboard.
Every Windows user is likely to have used this ‘get out quick’ key combination at some point! If these famous keys are forever imprinted on your mind, now they can be on your sofa too. A designer has created a cushion collection based on CTRL, ALT, DEL. They’re perfect for computer geeks and lovingly handmade from eco-felt.
The Ctrl, Alt and Del cushions are available from DiffractionFiber on Etsy.

If you’re keen to recognise the person at your door from their knock, then this nifty design idea could be just the job. Although it’s still only in the concept stage, the idea is that your friends could knock a certain melody on your door, so you recognise it and know who’s outside. It’s a fun and clever idea and could go into production – let’s hope so!
