A designer bike for the living room

Thursday, April 30th, 2009

bikeIt’s not usual to have a bike in the living room, but designer Luca Schieppati would like it to be. He’s created a fantastic bike concept that has recently been exhibited in Milan. The Ciclotte idea is just a concept right now, but the designer wants to bring it to the market soon. The design is well made and the creator used carbon fibre material to get a strong, but lightweight bike. It’s certainly an unusual living room design idea!

Their new concept is a simple wall created from OLED cells.  The wall recognizes people as they get close to it and changes the shape and the image to display a  mirror image of the person who’s standing before it. Ora ilLegale clock blast your time

Sunday, April 19th, 2009

clockDenis Guidone designed a clock that may help you save some time, but the truth is that this clock literally stole time from you. There are no numbers on the object and, when the time reaches a certain point, it changes sides. The Ora ilLegale clock is a good looking gadget, but don’t bet on it that it will always help you save time.

Stylish flower inspired table

Friday, April 17th, 2009

table

Flower images are often found in a whole range of designs, but now Japanese designer, Shige Hasegawa, has created a rather funky flower inspired table.

The Hana Table is being exhibited during the 2009 Milan Furniture Fair. The flower design is based on traditional origami techniques (which usually involves folding paper, but in this instance it’s wood). Rather than having lots of screws and nails, the glass top is fixed to the base via the five plywood legs. This makes the table easy to assemble and perfect for flat-packing.

Wouldn’t it look great in your living room?

lightGumdesign revealed their new lamp concepts recently at the Milan Design Festival. The front panel on this lamp is translucent and the LED lighting produces quite a wacky, futuristic effect. This one hangs from the wall, but they also have an upright standing version too. It would be great in a room where you’re trying to produce a modern look.
