Pac-Man Wall Art From Floppy Disks

Monday, March 30th, 2009

Remember floppy discs? And when they really were floppy?

If you had a PC in the 80s or 90s, the chances are you may well have an old collection of floppy disks tucked away in your loft or at the back of a cupboard. As their use has long since passed, rather than throwing them away, why not dust them off and recycle them in a stylish way instead.

Modern wall art is all the more fun when it’s creative and especially when you can do it yourself. Amazingly, the Pac-Man picture on the left has been made up of hundreds of floppy disks. So why not put your creativity to use and see what floppy disk design art you can come up with!

It’s always inspiring to see how other people design and utilise space and there’s nothing better than getting a glimpse into a house or apartment.

The creative staff at K2LD Architects have created a very pleasing and good looking apartment that’s perfect for modern and contemporary living. The designer used natural colours to put some warmth into the apartment, which definitely helps in such large, open plan spaces.

You can view more images of the apartment here>>>

Modern two-way rotating door

Wednesday, March 25th, 2009

ergonCreating the perfect indoor environment is really hard, especially when you’re dealing with awkward spaces. If you’re struggling with a small space where there’s not enough room for a standard type of door, then how about trying this?

Look at the picture – the door slowly rotates in, so the required space is half that of a normal door. It’s an Ergon rototranslating door and it makes a huge difference in rooms where you’ve got limited space.

What can you do with your old cassettes?

Monday, March 23rd, 2009

cassetteIf you’ve got a stash of old audio cassette tapes hidden away in a cupboard that you’re never going to play again, then here’s one possible solution to recycle them in a stylish way.

Artist Iri5 cleverly created two portraits from cassette tapes, using the inner tape ripped out of the cassette holder. The end results produced portraits of two famous names – Jimi Hendrix and Bob Dylan.

The cassette tape wall art pieces look impressive and we’re sure involve a great deal of artistic skill! But if you want to have a go and have a supply of tapes to hand,  try using a photo as a base and start creating the wall art by drawing the design with a pencil. Then add your ripped up old audio cassette tape inners to create dimension and interest, sticking them securely with glue.

Beautiful home built from cubes

Monday, March 16th, 2009

londonThis modern villa home in London, with its exterior cube-like design,  is bursting with space and style. It has over 7,935 square feet of space, which include five bedroom suites, two reception rooms, a cinema, sparkling indoor pool, a staff apartment and secure parking.

The interior has been finished to high specifications, with no expense spared – all mod cons, contemporary decor and a clean, crisp look. Outside, there are no less than three large terraces, a courtyard balcony and pristine landscaped gardens.

Not surprisingly, for a property like this in Central London, it does come with quite a hefty price tage – £8,950,000! Would you buy it, if you could afford it?

iphoneIf you love your iPhone, then the chances are that you may well love this nifty new product!

Meninos have produced a range of iPhone-like coasters. The coasters are designed to look like the icons in your phone, so even when you’re not using your iPhone, you can still see and use the icon coasters in your home. They’d be great for use in the kitchen and a perfect talking point for a party.

Sadly, they’re not cheap, with the whole set of coasters priced at $60.
